Another thing i wanted to mention is that the game suffered from frequent pauses/skips through out the campaign. It happened during the most crucial scenes, and the most action packed scenes. Towards the end, the audio itself would go out on a regular basis. There were quite a few important scenes towards the end where i didnt hear anything for a good 30 seconds or so.

Then there were the long ass loading times, made even longer by the trophies. basically, the game would load then the loading screen with the faces would freeze, and stay that way until the trophy pops up. I started counting after the first few hours, and the loading times were over 2 and a half minutes long. Did anyone else experience these issues or did I just screw up by not listening to rag and downloading the patch? :P

S0lidSnake

I downloaded the patch and didn't have any issues but clearly, you're not alone.

Yeah got some of those and complete freezes too. Given the amount of people I've read about having similar problems, hopefully this issue will be resolved.

Also while it is a bit cheap, you could always turn the difficulty down. I know it is not the best option but I agree there was a time or two....or three that tilting the controller wasn't working like it should. I appreciate their efforts to implement it, but the detection seemed rather off at times. Tweaking the difficulty for most part just makes you rely on the buttons and right analog stick.

Yeah, I wanted to bring down the difficulty as well, but wasn't sure if there was a trophy related to it.

Finished the game last night. I'm not entirely happy with all the things that happened/choices I made, but I thought it was an incredible experience throughout. I think it was smart of Cage to let you know that there could be severe consequences in the game and have to story continue regardless. It made everything feel very tense, a sense that there was no turning back, that a lot of the choices you made had some weight to it. I want to play through it a second time and see what kind of things I missed, and I'm curious to know what kind of ending everybody else had.
I'll wait a little later to talk about the ending, but I just want to say that I'M SO PISSED that I got Jayden killed in the encounter with Mad Jack. I couldn't figure out how to get out in time and there ended his part of the story dammit. I was so tempted to try and reload a save a go back, but I felt that would be "cheating" and just tried to play it using my gut reactions. Besides the Jayden dying part, I didn't get such a bad ending.
I don't suppose someone could make story discussion thread without the spoiler tags, would it? Sort of how it was with MGS4.

Hevy rain spoiler
lol, I had seen the walkthrough of that section with Mad Jack, and knew there was a gun in the dashboard. You have missed out on quite a few sections. I'd suggest going into the Chapters menu and starting over with the Mad Jack chapter. Make sure you select to Save your progress or you wont get any trophies.
I'd also like a spoiler only thread.

I have gotten around 5 different endings now. I suppose it's cool to have the game end with soooo many different scenarios, but I really wish there was just one single ending. The game tries really hard to be a movie, but since movies dont have a billion different endings, the ending that is there makes a powerful impression. With Heavy Rain, the ending has become a joke. If someone dies, i just go and replay that scene again and he survives this time. Lame.

I must say though, Ethan Mars' story is quite possibly the best story I've seen in video games since MGS1. I was completely enthralled playing rhough his sections, and loved the way David Cage built it up. It's handled quite masterfully infact. One thing is for sure, David Cage can tell a fantastic story.(Didnt like the concept of multiple endings though)

The graphics, the audio and the set pieces are nothing short of phenomenal. Graphics border on photorealism at times. I have never seen such realistic looking characters and set pieces. There were times when Madison, Blake and Scott all looked like real actors acting in a movie. Very impressive. I hope Sony gives Cage tons of money to make a new game. I dont know how he could top the awesome Ethan Mars' story arc, but I am very interested to see what he comes up with next. :)

P.S Again, Ethan Mars story was awesome. :P

I got the best ending, where everything turns out fine. There were two occassions where I messed up and went back to retry certain sections
I screwed up The Butterfly trial at the electricity maze section at first and then I had Madison die in the fire
but I was just going by my own intuitions the rest of the time. I loved the game. I loved the story, loved the characters, loved the twist and really loved the games use of QTEs. It really was completely unlike anything else I've ever played. I can't wait to start it up again and see how much I can change things.

I'd call that cheating ;)

I love how there are so many different endings, or so I hear. My brother played through the game as well, and got a pretty different ending than what I had. It's pretty interesting to see how many branching paths there can be in the game. I definitely want to play through differently and see what my other choices would do.

... or at least I would like to. What the hell is up with the PSN right now? I can't sign in, and I can't play Heavy Rain due to some trophy error, and it's really upsetting right now.

Edit: Oh, look at that. Topic right above answers my question. At least I'm not the only one, but this really sucks.

No i meant go replay the chapter AFTER i beat the game. The chapter menu let's you select any chapter/section and you can either play just that chapter or continue the story from there. I didn't replay any sections and got the worst ending possible. I mean the worst that you can imagine. I HAD to go and replay those last few chapters because I had a very low opinion of the game after that horrible ending.

Its still cheating, you have to start from the beginning like the old games, think Silent Hill 1, 2 :P Somebody make a thread about Heavy Rain with spoilers, I want to read what ending you guys got; if I don't see one I'll make one gotta finish this document first.

I agree with Solid. It would be way too annoying to play the game a ton of times just to see all options. They give you a chapter select, use it.

So is everyone enjoying NOT playing this tonight. :P

I was joking if you didn't notice :P

While it sucks not playing some of the chapters in Heavy rain tonight, I'm currently enjoying drinking :P
