The Resonance of Fate Thread - First reviews, game info, previews, and videos

So does anyone actually have the game? I'm hearing that the game is hard to find. My brother was able to snag a copy for me, so I will be playing it later today. Reviews for this game is slim, too...that has to be an indication of how Sega is handling this game.

Thanks to this thread I'm sticking it on my "play eventually" amazon list. I'm not willing to drop the full $60 on it. Hopefully this game doesn't get all rare on me.

I might check this game out later. There's a good chance it will be better than FF13, it has to at least have a better battle system.Legolas_Katarn

This game got crushed by gameinformer as being just a mediocre game. Has this changed anyones views on the game.Diablo-B

I picked up a copy last night night, reviews be damned! The graphics and environments are amazing (I am a huge steam punk freak though :P). The gameplay I am still learning. The combat system is a little on the odd side and the tutorials do not really shed any light on some of the more advanced aspects.

I will be spending some quality time with this game over the weekend and more than likely I am making the combat system a lot more complicated than it actually is. I am not saying that the combat system is bad but it is different enough to require actually going through the tutorials at the arena.

Has anyone else had difficulties learning the combat system? I may just be slow :D

I loved FF13's battle system :( and if I may ask, what did you not like about it?

The Gametrailers review really has me interested in this game. I like the style and I like the customization. The battle system seems like it could turn out really good. I am definitely in the mood for something more strategic. The only thing I'm not sure about is whether it is challenging or frustrating. Guess I'll wait for more player reviews.

The video reminded me of Wild Arms 4/5 for some reason – maybe its all the talk of hexagons.

The only problem for me is that I am generally a cheapskate gamer so ideally I would like to wait for this to go down to at least 40 before buying it. I thought the scarcity was due to some sort of shipping delays and I assumed it would be around in a few days -- but are you forum dwellers indicating that it is a short print run? I'll grab it at a higher price point if it is likely to go out of print, does anyone know of any official info on this issue?

I'm getting the hang of combat. I had a bit of trouble doing Tri-Attacks, and I wasn't sure how to do a Smackdown until I found out you have to juggle the enemy first.

I am in the same situation. The combat is very different and not in a bad way either so I have been spending some time doing random battles from the world map. I hope to spend some quality time with this game over the next couple of days not that I have a better understanding of how the combat works.

With what little I have played the game I am not disappointed yet. I love the setting that the game takes place in and the story so far has really caught my interest.
