I'm lookin to pick up Nier pretty soon, it seems to be good among player reviews, but harsh critical reviews. Some have said its one of the greatest RPGs. Can anyone recommend it why/why not?

Great RPG that was under rated IMO because you didn't have some happy go lucky teen kid with huge hair as a hero.(Japan got that version if you recall)

After reading a bunch of reviews and user feedback, I decided to skip many of the side (fetch) quests and focus on the main story. I had a blast!

I loved Nier. The side quests are kinda tedious, but you can skip most of them. Definitely an underrated gem.

Nah, each region got the game they'd approve of: Japan got their teen, the rest of us got a grizzled old man.

Most of the poor response to Nier comes down to the lack of obvious polish and the absence of will among particular outlets to give it the time it needs to win one over. But it has a lot of heart and the actual substance of the game - the writing and the acting especially - will mean people are still talking about it years from now, long after they've forgotten this generation's disposable AAA games.

Yeah, it's a fantastic game. It's only about $20 or less too.

I wish more games would use that as a main character to be honest.

Nier was a beautiful game. The story was amazing. The music is awesome. Yeah most of the sidequests arent that important. There are a couple that are interesting though. Its sad Nier is underrated.

Nier came out the same year as FFXIII if I'm not mistaken, and to me it was the better RPG of the two Square Enix put out. Very underrated game.

NIER is definitely a must-play and a must-buy, especilaly now if you can still find it.

I got it for cheap and i found it to be an amazing game in a very uncreative industry.
