Has anyone here ever enjoyed a mission or game mode that was based on beating the objective in under a certain time? I've ALWAYS hated these modes or game sequences and just wish they would go away forever!

Hate them. They're very rarely implemented in a fun way and don't add anything to the experience. I'd say they never work but I'm sure someone would delight in quoting me and pointing it out. Some games seem to have them just because - I've been playing a fair bit of Outrun 2006 the past couple of months, and the time limit there annoys me. Not because it's restrictive, but because it exists. The only time I ever have it run out on me is if I'm noodling a bit too much with the heartbreaker challenges, but it doesn't add anything to the game. Your leaderboard times are based on your total time, and if you ever do reach the point where you would run out of time you'd be so far down that list it wouldn't matter anyway - a crappy time would be your punishment. In most games, though, it's just a developer's awkward way of trying to make a portion of the game feel more frantic than it otherwise would have been. It's just lazy, and just annoys/frustrates the player. They're one notch below escort missions for me. And god help me, if a game ever dishes out a TIMED ESCORT MISSION, then it's all over.

In most cases I enjoy these kinds of games more. Majora's Mask and Pikmin 1 and 2 FTW!!!

I played goldeneye at one point and redone the same mission over and again. Gets frustrating.

Interesting point. On one hand some of the games mentioned used time very well imo including Majora's mask, pikmin1, pikmin2. Yet, on the other hand some fun games go wrong when you're faced with time. I can't really think of many, but i know I hate these missions most of the time too. Stuff like win in this many turns and follow this guy to a location w/o being seen are only good if done just right.

Ugh I hate timed games, I can't stand them. Entire levels/missions, or when you just have to get out of a specific place in a certain amount of time like in Sonic where you'll drown if you're under water too long. I hate that!

I HATE timed sections. Remember the early bit in Mass Effect where you have to defuse three bombs within a short time limit while surviving the Geth attacks? My friend gave up on the game after a dozen tries.
