I was really dissapointed in the Saturn. There were so few games I enjoyed on it, I pretty much forgot about it once I got my N64. I also had to get a modchip in the system since many retailers carried so few Saturn games it felt near impossible to find the games I wanted.
Im not sure why alot of people seem to put som much emphesis on the Saturn's launch , which admittedly was lousy.
the price didn't stay high forever, it was lowered eventually and besides, the launch isnt a deciding factor.
if the launch meant anything, the Dreamcast would have been a massive success, and the PS3 would have been a miserable failure.
there are other , considerably more important reasons as to why the Saturn didn't achieve its full retail potential in the west, and I could list them , but people seem more concerned with putting the facts into neat little boxes they can understand, rather then the actual truth. (and this goes for the any aspect of history)

Ya people fail to realize that launches for just about every platform that has come out has pretty much sucked. put it this way. I doubt in 1996 or 97 , a kid is going to walk into a shop and say "you know, that Saturn only had a few games 2 years ago , Im not going to buy one based on that" also while the launch 399 price point was expensive, it did go down , although thats one thing that led to Sega's money issues later on.[QUOTE="Darkman2007"]

to that I agree. was playing Pocket Fighter today actually, great fun and quite funny.who cares why it failed. the system is still great and especially in hindsight. many games were ahead of it's time and we can still enjoy them

I always wanted one back when it came out. Never bought one to this day. I think it really did have alot of under-appreciated games, but some of them are too rare and expensive to make it worth looking into getting them these days. For me at least.
Agreeing 100% with this man right here. It's definitely my personal favorite console. It's host to my favorite game of all time (Radiant Silvergun) and had many excellent exclusives, including Burning Rangers, Dragonforce, Dark Savior, Clockwork Knight, Virtual-On, Albert Odyssey, Galactic Attack, NiGHTS into Dreams, Battle Garegga, Blast Wind, Hyper Duel, Fighters Megamix, Guardian Heroes, Saturn Bomberman (10-player, HELL YEAH), and the majority of the Panzer Dragoon series. (including the legendary Panzer Dragoon Saga) Also, best controller design even to this day, IMO. Fits amazingly comfortably in one's hand.saturn is the ultimate hardcore gamer console. it's definetely not for everyone but I think it's the best console ever made. it had the most diverse great games that still hold up very well today other then the 3d graphics games.

no other system had guardian heroes. therefore it is the best system of all time.

I had that game, sadly ,Im in the minority who never liked it. I did sell it for £30 though.
not to worry, I own other Saturn games to compensate :P

I assume you mean back in the 90s? or do you mean now?also what saturn really captured for me like no other console was the true classic sega nostalgia/arcade feel. nothing gets me more emotional almost as setting up daytona usa and watch the opening, of the virtua cop games or check out sonic world in sonic jam, not to mention the sonic 3d and sonic r games and especially the music! happy 90s time! :D

you just broke my heart. as far as Treasure games on the Saturn go , you should try out Sillhouette Mirage, its very fun , I personally prefer it to Guardian Heroes. also if you like beat em ups, I suggest Die Hard Arcade, its very good indeed.[QUOTE="Darkman2007"]

sadly the Xbox one the the one I didn't play.
actually thats a lie, there was another PD game on the Game Gear called Panzer Mini, which was JPN only, and very rare, I didn't play that one either , though its not considerd part of the main series.

Speaking of which, Orta is quite excellent. I would highly recommend going to any nearby shop which still carries Xbox games and get it today. (Dirt-cheap by now, somewhere in the $5-8 range, unless the price went down even further...) On that note, as far as underrated "would have been on the Dreamcast if it didn't die so quickly" Sega games on the Xbox, get Otogi 1 & 2 if you like action games in the vein of DMC and Ninja Gaiden. They're top-notch.Back on topic-- Meanwhile, Panzer Dragoon Mini and the horrendous OVA never happened.

die hard arcade is f'n fantastic. I have the japanese version I don't know about other versions but it has an old submarine arcade game and every submarine you shot got you extra credit. it has very deep battle gameplay and movesets and very good graphics. all of my friends love this game

Should I play them in order or are they like Final Fantasy where it doesn't matter where you start because neither one has anything to do with the other?play them in this order. panzer zwei, then panzer dragoon and then saga,. the story is very deep and complex I would also suggest looking up sites like panzer-dragoon.net to find out more about the stories after you have finished the game. if you don't plan to get the shooters or finish them, then at leats check all the videos on youtube for the story
thing is, people somehow forget the price was lowered eventually, but for some reason ,they assume it was a high price even in 1997, which is funny.I paid full price for ps3 4 years ago and never regretted it for a day. same with dreamcast, which was quite expensive in europe when it came out. little more than 300$

[QUOTE="Tony-Baxter"]16 years ago today the Saturn was released in NA for the amazingly too high pice of $399 us dollars. It failed for many reasons but that $399 sure didn't help! Thoughts?FoulcryI loved my Saturn. I don't care how expensive it was. Ditto! I got mine at launch and never looked back. I was fine with it and the only thing that let me down was seeing the support slowly dwindle away in favor of the mighty PS1.It's a close one between the Saturn and the Dreamcast, on which old school console gets more of my love. I guess Saturn right now, especially since my Dreamcast laser in jacked up right now.
