no order and mainly based on nostalgia: street fighter 2(i had the normal 'world champion' snes cart), mortal kombat trilogy, and tekken tag tournment. (i will admit, pretty mainstream choices)
the regular first one in the arcades or the first one on snes...screw turbo and but championship made the bosses playble so i liked that but the game mechanics got um harder to do.. the new challengers was ok but i didnt really like the new characters...
actually i remeber there used to be modded SF2 aracdes cabinets where you could do haduken and shoryuken in the air anywhere thats the best one lol..
never could really get into mortal kombat, always seemed it was just about gore and finishing moves. Tekken and Soul Calibur are fun, but they dont make my top 3. maybe a tie for 4th.
If we are allowed to count Wrestling games, then: 1. WWF SmackDown! 2: Know Your Role 2. WWE SmackDown! Here Comes The Pain 3. WWE SmackDown! vs. RAW 2011 (this came out last year, but I felt that I should mention it anyway since it is my current favourite) If we AREN'T allowed to count Wrestling games...: 1. Tekken 3 2. Tekken 2 3. Tekken 4 I am more of a Wrestling game fan than a fighting game one. :)

Not sure if it was Wrestlemania 2000 or No Mercy. WWF Royal Rumble for the SNES was fun also. As for my top 3: 1. Hyper Street Fighter II The Anniversary Edition (On Street Fighter Anniversary Collection) 2. Capcom vs. SNK 2/ Marvel vs, Capcom 2 (either can fit here) 3. Virtua Fighter 4 Honorable mentions go to Bushido Blade 2, Dead Or Alive 2 Hardcore, Guilty Gear X2 Reload, Killer Instinct, and Soul Calibur 2 3.

You are probably talking about No Mercy, everybody loves that one ;). Unfortunately for me, I have never been able to play it :( as I always lacked a N64. I will definately have to play it someday though. For other games, it could have been WrestleMania 2000 or Royal Rumble (I believe there indeed was one on the N64 as well, although the guy a few posts after yours mentioned one on the SNES :). Wrestling games are really fun! Wrestling fan or not, I recommend them. :)
