Nah I read it correctly the first time, I just figured writing my own top 5 of this gen would be better considering I don't rate any on your list as "best of gen" material.

i was asking *out of this list of top 5 games (this gen)* which is the best? not, "what is your top 5 games this gen?"

i liked bioshock and kinda didn't like bioshock 2. which do you think is better, bioshock or bioshock infinite?

All those games you listed are some of my favourite games ever. But since you asked which one out of all 5 would be the best this gen, I would say Mass effect 2.

• Fallout 3 (or Fallout: New Vegas depending on my mood)
• Bioshock
• Red Dead Redemption
• Civilization 5
• Super Mario Galaxy 2

I have not played Tomb Raider. Loved GTA V. Red Dead is overrated and Mass Effect 2 had far too many flaws.

5. Xcom: Enemy Unknown(Loved it, but not as good as the original in some ways)

Special mentions:

The Last Story(Fantastic game, and quite original, though sometimes a bit too easy. I hope mistwalker makes a second), Lost Odyssey(Loved it the last great Turn-based jrpg I've played, how I miss those), Dragon's Dogma(Amazing blend of Jrpg, and Wrpg imo), Dark/Demon Souls(Heck I've still got the english chinese version of Demon's Souls), Fallout: New Vegas(3 was alright), Nier(Very Underrated, and that music), and Valkyria Chronicles(I want to play 3 come on sega).

Persona 4 would be on the list, but I'm not sure I would consider it this gen.

yeah. for me it's so close, i can't really call it. one week it's RDR, the next week it's ME2. i'm playing FO3 right now (5th playthrough) and just can't get enough. i think those are the top 3 this gen.

what flaws did ME2 have? the only one i can think of is that planet scanning get tedious. but if you play the pc version it's patched and isn't a problem. not sure where you're going with, "me2 has too many flaws" as it has virtually no flaws.

i've only played your top 3. i don't hate RDR or anything, but i could live without it. i do like ME2's sleek design, but i suppose i prefer fallout 3 for all the great discoveries i had with it.

Nothing from that list is particularly amazing to me. Maybe Fallout 3 since I've yet to play it. My list would be

5. Nier-Truly a unique experience, with interesting spells, and an unpredictable story.

4. Halo 3-Great end to a trilogy, and has the only shooter multiplayer I still feel like playing again because of forge and custom games.

3. Phoenix Wright-Combines gameplay and story seamlessly into challenging yet fast paced puzzles. Amazing classic.

2. Portal 2-Another great game that puts story and gameplay together into a sequel that improves upon everything.

1. 9 hours 9 persons 9 doors- the only game to fully immerse me in an experience unlike any other. The story and gameplay are perfect in every aspect. Even though there is not much gameplay, the puzzles that are there feel realistic and just the right difficulty. Story is just pure adrenaline and amazement.

i didn't think anyone besides me would put those two up there

I know. Considering the amount of hate they get I still found them to be amongst the most enjoyable games this gen.

True, i was a little angry after the original ending of ME3, but the extended ending made a lot of that up to me. Only thing that lacked for me was the use of the war assets in the final fight
