Ubisoft apologizes for ACU's launch with Free DLC and game

After working on patches to fix Assassin's Creed Unity's pathetic excuse of a launch, Ubisoft said the upcoming Dead Kings DLC will be free for everyone as an apology. Also, season pass owners will have the option to get one free game from any of Ubisoft's current lineup, which includes Far Cry 4, Rayman Legends, Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag, The Crew, and Watch Dogs.

What do you all think about this move by Ubisoft? Is it a good way to start their rebound, or is the pain of their arrogance still too fresh on everyone's minds?

I think it's good for them to offer that kind of thing. It shows that they still have some decency and respect for their customer left. Not sure if it's gonna change anything about how people see them, though.

A free premium game and DLC?!! That's really good! It's definitely a class move on their side that should garner some gamer support.

If I were to be optimistic, I'd say the money they'll lose on all the free copies of Far Cry they're about to give away, should be a lesson for them not to release such a broken game in the future. One can hope...

While it's incredibly stupid that they cancelled the season pass after having already sold it to people, at least the games they are giving away are worth more than the pass was.

Still sucks though (although you shouldn't be buying season passes in the first place)

Ya, they are not laying on their lazy side with those games, Farcy 4 or The Crew would make me a very happy camper if i had been dumb enough to buy the gold ed.

Doesn't Ubisoft have a PS4 and Xbox One that they can just pop in the disk and test the game on ?

I mean It doesn't surprize me that they released a flawed but it surprizes me they are willing to compensate for it by giving away free stuff.... It seems like they genuinely care.... Which makes me wonder why didn't they just delay it ? Did they not know ?

I would really like to talk to someone at ubisoft, just to satisfy my curiosity.

Its a good move. Now I regret not buying the seasons pass as I would have got the crew for free.

It wouldn't be free as you would have to buy a useless season pass.

Think it is a pretty good payment to those who have put up with the game thus far however to really improve their situation and reputation they need to launch a couple of really good games and sort their act out.

When are they going to remove the companion app requirement for 100% so people without phones can complete the damn game?

This is what I was thinking. It's nice they're doing that but the fact remains that the game they released simply wasn't finished.

It's a nice gesture, but I'd be more appreciative if they'd just stop being such a horrible company. They have a long way to go to fix customer trust issues. It's a step in the right direction, but if they continue to release unfinished games, then it's a backhanded apology.

They are merely trying to soften the blow. For most, I bet the damage has already been done.

Also, something better than this would be dropping UPlay.

This is actually a fairly good idea, but I really hope they learned a lesson in regards to launch windows, I think Unity would have really benefitted from another year of development, and I would have been happy to wait
