I'm pretty sure Abes Oddysee was well widely known but I never knew of many people who played Abes Exoddus.Abes Exoddus improved the game phenominally and made it so much more entertaining then the last its sad that many people missed out on it.
Shenmue 2 was good as well i hired it about 4 years ago and haven't played it since.
All I can think of at the moment are the Destruction Derby games for PS1. I'm getting another PS2 for christmas (after selling my previous one) and i'm so getting those games again from ebay. :D
Yoshi's Story for the N64. Everyone I know hated this game(at least when it came out) but hell, I loved playing it over and over again when I was in elementary school. I don't know if I would consider it classic, but I know it's definitely underrated. :D
Earthworm Jim for the N64. Not much people liked it, but I loved that game. I played it like 10 times over.

Yup, great game. I never had any of the problems the reviews Ive read metion. Conkers Bad Fur Day was not underrated. Alot of people liked it and it was known for its adult style humor plus it was popular enough to get remade on Xbox (which I have) so its definitly weird it never had sequel.
Underrated classics imo: Little Nemo (NES), Ristar (Genesis), Vectormans (Genesis), Spyro Heros Tail (PS2, but I dont know if its really a classic but it was definitly overlooked because of Enter the Dragonfly but its the best since the first 3), LEGO Racers (PS1, overlooked because it was another cart-racer...probaly should have waited til the LEGO lisence gained popularty like today.)
Basically any great game for the Amigia/ Most early PC platform games. They tend not to get remebered as well, it's kind of sad really. I grew up with an archimedes acorn and an amigia.

Shadow Of The Colossus, Shenmue, Donkey Kong Country and Mario Kart 64 OVERRATED? Jeez, nobody ever shuts up about how artistic and wonderful the first two are(and I fail to see the charm in either, but then, I never really figured out HOW to play Shenmue, I couldn't get out of the house, call me an idiot...XD), and the last two are generally considered amond the best games on their systems...at this rate Halo and Super Mario Bros. should be here too. XD Anyways, on a SERIOUS note, I'd probably go with Heroes Of Might And Magic 3. Nobody ever really talks about it, probably because the newer ones weren't very good, but me and my friends still play Heroes 3 together a lot when we're bored...XD
DK 64. That game was brilliant and the length of the game was perfect. It got a great rating, but when people mention the top N64 games, DK64 is rarely mentioned.
Phantom 2040 (GEN) is very underrated. It's a kind of "Metroidvania" game based on the acclaimed cartoon hit of the same name back in the '90s. There is also a SNES version but it's subpar music makes the SNES version inferior IMO. Anyone who is a fan of Metriodvania type of games needs to check this title out.
