Unpopular Gaming Opinions

What are your opinions about certain titles, video games in general, consoles, console wars that most people here disagree with?

I'll start: There is a reason why console gaming is healthy despite all the theoretical advantages of PC gaming. Its a headache, it requires a bigger investment both financially and energy to learn, its not always compatible and a lot of services/hardware deprecate over time.

The Wii-remote had great potential for most genres in 3D.

Before I answer your question I'd like to point out I think Console advantages are well-known. It's convenient (next to no tinkering), has a healthy life cycle (even after they usually last decades, minus 360), usually supported greatly (usually), and with an active community (Share experiences, and multiplayer).

The only reason you'll find spamming Master Race posts on the forums is because those select few mouthing on the forums want more playing on P.C. at a more common rate. I play on my P.C. sometimes, but I'm not part of the click in what 99.9% of people here play on P.C. Anyone else play War for the Overworld, The Chaos Engine, Elite: Dangerous? Nah, didn't think so, and don't lie, servers for all three are next to dead. . But that's also why they shun Console gamers, they want a bigger community in the games they play with empty lobbies and discussion boards. If it's not part the buzz- Blizzard, EA, Valve, Activision, or Riot game most other (especially multiplayer) games are screwed on P.C!

At least my copy of D00M is active. That's the power of Bethesda and id, which I forgot to mention before *cough*. but other than that I'd rather play my Dark Souls III on PS4, uninstalled my P.C. data over the reoccurring hacker fest (just another big reason people jump back to Consoles if they dabble in both pots).

Now onto my unpopular opinion- I think more on here should accept that the 3DS is the real deal! It has some of the best games in recent years, and supports all DS classics, along with great VC ports. It's a huge shame the GS community shuns portable technology. . If you missed out on Monster Hunter 4G but like games such as Dark Souls or Dragon's Dogma? You really have missed out. The 3DS has something for everyone_

Nobody cares, but Cyber Shinobi was pretty good

I like Call of Duty and I think that they are excellent games.

I like the design of the Xbox One case as well as like the user interface.

Call of Duty is a great series

Final Fantasy 12 is the best in the series

Half-Life 2 is only average

Overwatch does not deserve GOTY if it offers gambling loot boxes

Metal Gear Solid 2 is the best MGS game

Metroid Prime is the best FPS ever made

Every Sony dual shock controller is horrible and give me arthritis.

Yeah I agree about PC... hermits tend to claim that PC gaming is categorically better than everything else, which simply isn't the case. Just like every gaming system, it has it's pros & cons.

Kingdom Hearts is not just for kids. On hard mode that game is actually hard. Just because it has Disney characters in it does not mean its a "kids game". The combat that everyone raves about and universally likes in Final Fantasy 15 IS BASED OFF OF the combat in Kingdom Hearts. <rolls eye>

@RSM-HQ: I thinks it more because gamespot caters toward more "BRO gamers" who only play one type of game, action and shooters. But I don't think your opinion is unpopular in the general public or the gaming industry as I see many articles about handheld consoles and games. Sony's lack of support for the Vita is what I really think is affecting people's opinions on handheld gaming as a whole since nintendo doesn't have a competitor and is just seen as a "kid's machine".

ET for atari 2600 was a very good game for its time and I loved it as a kid

Double Dragon 3 is the best nes double dragon game

The army men series was great

Ocarina of time is not a bad game but is severely overrated, same can be said for final fantasy 7

Call of duty series consistently put out quality titles each year

Open world games are the worst thing to happen to modern gaming, on the same topic MGS V and dying light were both horrifically boring games. On the topic of that MGS 2 >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>MGS 3

Sega Dreamcast was one of the worst consoles in the history of gaming, no it was not Jaguar/3do bad, but as far as mainstream consoles go it is one of the worst and when I look at the console as a whole it is very easy for me to see why it ended Sega's time in the console business

Mighty no 9 was amazing, and doesn't deserve 1 /100th of the hate that it gets, neither does resident evil 6

I also agree that OoT and FFVII are severely overrated.

The PS2 is the most overrated console of all time. I see so many people claim that it is the greatest console of all time and I strongly disagree with that.

I don't even think it was the best console of it's generation, in fact I think it was the worst of it's generation. I owned all four of the 6th gen consoles and I found the PS2 to be the least impressive of the four.

I also don't even think it is the best Playstation console. The PS1 was a far better Playstation console in my opinion.

Uncharted 4 is an average game! not more than 7\10! great graphics, nice story, average game. especially compared to Rise Of The Tomb Rider which is so much better in any aspect. (and i love naughty dog!!!).

2D top-down GTA games are way better than the 3D ones.

Sony's controllers are horrible.

GameCube controller is the best controller ever made.

Console graphics is nothing special.

Yes, can't say I'm a fan of them either.

having had a 360 last gen it surprises me to say it but the ps4 controller is better than the xbox one with a more natural layout.

doom's formula was nothing more than go to new area, introduce new tougher enemy, beat area, move to next, quadruple previously introduced new tough enemy, introduce another even tougher enemy and repeat. that didn't get old, fast.

microsoft game studios buying halo and gears was a bigger mistake than their initial xbox one announcement. they cannot replicate what bungie and epic did to the extent that it's awkward / tragic playing them.

ubisoft have singlehandedly killed open world games.

fallout 4 was meant to be a last gen game but they missed the cut off so bolted on some bullshit base building nonsense and hoped people wouldn't notice.

Naughty Dog hasn't released a good game since Jak & Daxter.

Physical media is obsolete - time to ditch those discs and get a better internet connection; this isn't 2007 anymore.

Dualshock 3 is the best controller - if only because the battery will last more than a few hours.

Exclusives are dumb and every game should be released on every platform - we're past the point where it's difficult to go cross-platform, get with the program devs and quit settling for the easy payout; you'll sell more copies in the long run.

Consoles are an anti-consumer product meant to nickel-and-dime for the next five years - and if it weren't for the few (fewer and fewer every day) exclusives there would be absolutely no reason to buy one.

Nintendo is the only console manufacturer still around - Sony and MS are clearly taking advantage of consumers with their 'consoles' which are just locked down mediocre Steam Machines

The new Tomb Raider reboots are just a rip-off on Uncharted - only they managed to make a decent Uncharted game.

Final Fantasy XII is a great game

I have so many of them. I'm constantly hated on for my views. Here's a few...

• Phantasy Star Universe, Manhunt 2, Castlevania II: Simon's Quest, Pac-Man & The Ghostly Adventures, & Paper Mario Sticker Star, are a great games
• Kid Niki is one of the greatest platformers of all time
• I like the Wii U
• Resident Evil 4 Wii U Edition is the best version of the game by a country mile
• Final Fantasy IX is the best in the series
• The best games of 2009, 2011, & 2016 were not Uncharted games
• I played That's So Raven on DS and LIKED it

I've enjoyed No Man's Sky from day one. Opinions on the internet do not get more unpopular than that.

I found every 3D Zelda to be boring.

I have disliked every Naughty Dog game except the Last of Us and I think that one is merely "good".

I like open worlds and see it as an important step in video game design.

I don't like turn based combat in RPG's. It was a work around for the limited tech of the times and should be discarded. But people like it so whatever.

I like COD.

I don't care about "exclusives".

Alien Isolation is not very good.

I did not enjoy Shadow of the Colossus one bit.

Dante's Inferno is a better game than Castlevania Lords of Shadow.

Half life 1 is boring and bad.

World of Warcraft is bad in terms of gameplay.

FPS is for kids who are not grown a pair of balls yet and cannot deal with real life :

• One of the best game ever made was Populous.
• There hasn't been a good two player hack n'slash on console since Champions of Norrath (where's my Torchlight II on console?!).
• Games these days kind of suck (they are beautiful and intricate, sometimes with meaningful scenarios, but lack of some real fun (when was the last time you saw something like Dungeon Keeper and said "wow, that is new, and I like it"?). The only game I can think of who break this "rule" is Red Dead Redemption (I had fun with a lot of games, but I won't replay GTA V like I replay(ed) Diablo (the first installment) or WipeOut).
• The best shooter ever made was Unreal Tournament.

Meh, I'm nostalgic.

And now the ones that can angry some people

• The FF series is a gigantic pile of incredibly steamy shit.
• Witcher III is an easy to play/easy to please game that's too easy and directive, but disguises itself in a serious game.
• I don't care the least about scenario in general: I want unadulterated fun. Scenario is rarely a part of it. Some games without any kind of scenario have taken large parts of my life, and I liked it.

I think the Internet hate against narrative in video games is ridiculous.

PSN and Live aren't that different anymore.

I agree with Final Fantasy 12 (assuming numbered series, I like Tactics more than 12) and Half-life.

I don't see why Overwatch should be held back from GOTY for that reason. That seems completely arbitrary. The loot boxes only have cosmetics in them, they provide no gameplay benefit.

Metroid Prime is not an FPS. FPS games rely on aiming. Metroid Prime does not, you lock onto enemies. It is an FPA, first person adventure. Just because a game is in first person perspective does not make it an FPS.

dead space 3 gets a lot of shit but my friend and i played it on the hardest difficulty and we had a blast (final boss was pretty lame though)

same for resident evil 5. i know a lot of people were disappointed with these games because they're not scary, but i had fun so :p

@LuminousAether: TBH, I dont believe any game should charge extra money after already being 60 bucks. I know most games are doing it (Uncharted 4 has them), but with Overwatch, it just feels wrong on some level. That, and I dont believe the game is that great. Played the free weekend, and I was less than impressed.

I think a lot of people will agree that gameplay-wise World of Warcraft is pretty bad and there are a lot of MMOs out there with better mechanics

Final Fantasy XV is too "American" for its own good, even from American perspective. In fact it looks like an average Japanese fiction than blatantly portrayed Americans in their perspective.

Digital only is more dangerous to gamers than any DLC or micro transaction can ever be.

Games can have extra on the side to sell.

Turn base is not outdated. "It a work around limited tech" is a stupid argument.

Game do not need to be open world.

Death matching like CoD's mp is repetitive.

E-sports is not a good thing for most of gaming.

"Games are art" is a bad thing to say.

The oculus rift offer nothing to game and slows down the movement to VR.

Stream lining is not always a good thing.

Horror makes bad games.

Interactive stories are not game.

RPG can have a linear story with no player input.

Twin Snakes was better than the original Metal Gear Solid

Gamecube is the best console of all time

Dota is better than league

Half-Life 2 is fucking terrible.

Naughty Dog is mediocre.

I think Nintendo are extremely overrated and well behind both Sony and Microsoft, and only appeal to a niche market.

Consoles are more popular than PC because most console gamers buy far less games than is assumed (look at the pathetic attach rates of games)

PC and Nintendo are the best for exclusives If you actually want games you can't really get anywhere else,

Half-Life series (minus counterstrike) is overrated

Blizzard (and especially Warcraft) is overrated

GTA is overrated

Volition (Descent: Freespace 1/2, Red Faction, Saint's Row) is underrated

Dota is much better than LoL

Multiplayer games don't need any sort of progression.

People actually don't want Arena Shooters even though they keep saying they do.

I like Final Fantasy 8.

6v6 Team Fortress 2 is boring as hell. Game was designed for 12v12.

Multiplayer games don't have to be 5v5 or 6v6 only to be competitive.

Planetside 2 is an MMO. Get over it.

Halo 2 is a terrible, terrible excuse for a sequel. I'm going trough the anniversary and even a new coat of paint can't save it's awful campaign. I can't believe that, after those incredible development gameplay videos back in 2003, this is the game we got.

It got better with Halo 3 and forward, but Halo 2 really was the weakest link.
