Well, I've been looking at some more Terminator Salvation the game trailers and this looks like it could be one of the best video game/movie games ever made. Well...at least by the gameplay videos here.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2xljgIBBznI

And yes, it does remind me of another third-person shooting, duck and covering game we all know that is also about a war in the future with tons of Gear! :P

Anyway, this is just my choice of what could be a surprise hit!

What do you guys think? What are some other games that may surprise us this upcoming summer?

If you are insinuating that Terminator Salvation the game is going to be better than GoW 2, then I think you might need play a couple more movie to game games, most of them are terrible with a few exceptions.

Did you make a account just to say that? Anyway, I didn't claim Terminator will be better than Gears, I just said it reminded me of Gears. Of course no third person shooter is better than the standards Gears of War has set, but that doesn't mean they're not fun or good. Like Army of Two, Kand and Lynch, Dark Sector, and maybe even Terminator Salvation, sure these games will never surpass Gears of War 2 but they're still dumb fun. That's all I'm saying. Why do you think the topic is about games that might be surprise hits?

Terminator does look cool, but I doubt it would be anything special.

Wolverine and Bourne Something both are great games, but both failed to capture my attention. I doubt Terminator will impress enough gamers to become a Surprise hit. It would most likely be a solid rental just like Bourne and Wolverine.

I think inFAMOUS might be the Sleeper hit of the year. the few who have played the demo are already singing its praises and most of us thought Prototype was going to be the one to look out for. After keeping a pretty low key profile the last year or two, it's finally starting to generate some hype and the Uncharted 2 beta alone might sell 50K copies.

Still not expecting anything over 300K for May. 200-250K seems likely.

Can't think of any other upcoming games besides Bionic Commando and Prototype. Prototype will obviously be a big seller, but I doubt BC's generated enough hype to become a sleeper hit.

Oh and this game is definitely going to sell *** loads of copies. Simply because the first movie was a huge hit.

It looks a lot better than your Terminator Salvation game for sure. :P

It looks like InFAMOUS is going to be the surprise. I have to admit, I thought it was going to bomb, yet IGN gave it a 9.2 so it definitely can't be that bad!

Dead Space and Uncharted are. I don't think gears has set standards for anything, it just tweaked the movement in RE4 nothing more.

In all honesty ASK_Story, I think people will rather get bored with too many games that has similar theme and gameplay mechanics but that's just me.

To each his/her own. But for me, shooters are real fun so the more the better. I'm just glad next-gen graphics and tech plus developers getting better at designing games is making even mediocre or generic copies still pretty good games. I wouldn't even touch these if they were last gen.

Damnation might also be a surprise. I don't expect it to be great but maybe worth checking out.

007 Goldeneye made me want to make a Terminator game a long time ago. I wanted to play as the Terminator and be on quest to kill Sarah Connors like in the first movie. I thought with goldeneyes amazing engine it would be incredibly awesome lol. Terminator Redemption I havent even looked at a screenshot. Even if you love the game and think its the best thing ever...its not gonna get any sequels or anything unless there is another movie. Its fine to share graphic resources between movies and games but the game should have different plotlines. I dont care one way or another however. If it rocks I will play it too.

I agree with you ASK that the quality of even craphole movie-to-game releases are getting pretty decent. Transformers was by no stretch of the imagination a great game but it was pretty entertaining and quenched my thirst quite well after watching the movie. I especially loved how they got that tiny element where the robots would transform in midair kinda and the vehicles would seem to fall onto the round as they finished, made it looked like the car was jumping or whatever. That was so cool.

MY PICK for best sleeper.... well thats hard to say. I think gamespot is doing a really crappy job of previewing games nowadays. If you dont see the articles about something as they come out chances are you will miss it. The console specific home pages dont do a very good job at previewing everything thats coming just the most popular(ones paid to be on top). So I dont even know of that many games that are due out!!! But I did see one for the Nintendo DS(through an article lol).

Its called Infinite Line or Infinite Space. You get to build your own hulking space cruiser warship out of different parts and stuff. At first I thought it was going to be some kind of awesome new wing commander clone or something but the battles look totally different. More like two behemoths trading punches. The bottom screen shows an image of your bridge with a working view screen that is live and the top screen shows an image of other ships. I wasnt as excited when I found out the ships are just big huge slow moving cruisers but who knows it may kick total ass??

I think Saboteur will be the next Dead Space, a game that turned out better then everyone's expectations.

Plus Gameinformer gave it a 9 too so I'm guessing the good reviews are going to keep coming.

Gametrailers Review.

Here's the summary:

  • FOUR hours long.
  • Yes, Four hours long.
  • Only 9 Trophies. Awarded at the end of each mission. Easiest Platinum ever!
  • Framerate issues.
  • Poor Textures.
  • Stupid AI.
  • Lame Story.
  • Uninspired Terminator Design.
  • One section is a whopping 38 seconds long.
  • This game sucks.
  • 4.7/10!
  •
  • Told you!
  • :P
