inb4 MGS4 hatemailBlack_Knight_00I was going to make a poll and place only good story games but I decided to save the poll for something else.
Batman Arkham City undoubtedly contains one of the most botched video game stories in recent memory.InsipidGameHateIt felt like a mashup of as many cameos as we could shove into a game :P But it was shameless fun
Pokemon. You have to train monsters, fight other little monsters, and earn badges to prove your superiority.
Terrible. :P
[QUOTE="turtlethetaffer"]Just Cause 2 had a story? The abundant mayhem was fun, but I'd say the missions had more of a briefing than a story.Probably something like Just Cause 2. It's so hilariously poorly done you can't help but love it.

Yeah the story was "Take down racial stereotypes while listening to Sheldon."
Hour of Victory, a WW2 FPS.
The main cast consists of three soldiers hand-picked from various units for the purpose of sabotaging a German secret weapons programme. Initially taking place in North Africa, the game suddenly jumps straight to the Battle of Berlin. It's obvious that no real thought was put into the story, given how completely nonsensical and seemingly random it is. Unless of course the developers genuinely believed that the Soviets were in Berlin while Rommel was still in North Africa... :P
could not disagree stronger. it was a refreshing spin on the military shooter. in an infinite sea of shooters where the only thing your hearing is how awesome you are, and "GO Go GO!" talk going on. the macho talk in The Line, but it's put on it's head. hell i couldn't stop playing it, i managed to platinum the game. one of my favorite shooters of the year. The other is Black Ops 2. but for very different reasons.Spec Ops: The Line - It is so heavy handed whith their "Deep ideal". Also boring characters, and boring dialog.

It looked to me like the fictional island nation was modeled after the Philipines when it was under the thumb of Ferdinand Marcos. What aspects of the story did you find to be racist?Yeah the story was "Take down racial stereotypes while listening to Sheldon."

Oblivion's story was cliche and predictable... fortunately Skyrim fixed this. I also didn't like the story in Kingdoms of Amalur despite the ridiculously deep lore they created for it
Killzone and Gears both have stupid stories, just a bunch of military grunt stereotype propaganda.
FF13 had a really boring story I couldn't get into.
Gears i cared more. but i agree with Killzone and Final Fantasy. it's weird that i've played Killzone 2 and 3, i hated 2, and i bought three because of this amazing trailer. that trailer makes it look like there is so much damn potential for a great shooter story. and it falls flat in almost every way.....Killzone and Gears both have stupid stories, just a bunch of military grunt stereotype propaganda.

and as far as Killzone guys, i still view it as two bad guys duking it out.
and my friends and i would laugh at KZ3 story. main characters refer to these other new ISA members like the lady (i forget her name - liked her character design though) and one other guy as though we should know these people. and we would just laugh "don't worry! Bowen will save us! we don't know who is but damn he said he would, and he sounds like he's important!"
FF13 i just didn't care, too much mythology to digest that required its reading and understanding in the very lengthy codex's, not enough showing it to you through story progression. In the end i just didn't care.

better story than Asylum. City actually highlighted the big morale decisions that Batman makes and defined him as such a great character over the years. Asylum was just stop Joker from making a monster army. Very Saturday morning type plot in that one.

"Sloth Demon herreeee"
I could just say any modern military shooter these days, but that's just too easy.
The first Borderlands game was very dull and difficult to get into unless you had friends. Even then, I got bored of the story easily.
Dragon Age 2 had a fairly boring story, as well. It was somewhat predictiable with characters that weren't very interesting. Probably the worst, or one of the worst, games by Bioware.
While I enjoyed Gears 3, and still do, I found its story to be lackluster. It felt rushed, and was far too easy to forget about it.
^Also, what was that JRPG where you played a whiney androgynous teen that discovered he had great power and went on a quest to save the world with a wishy washy magic chick, a cool tough guy, a squeaky little girl, a big strong guy and a weird little cartoon character? Oh yeah, it was all of them.ElutheriaHardy har har har.
