like, say there was a huge disaster in the country. would that be enough to cancel or delay a game? example: a nuke goes off somewere.

... I'm not quite sure what kind of question this is, hopefully its not serious... but anyway games are usually cancelled if the quality of the game during production does not match their expectations. It's all up to the developers really.

As for the nuke... seriously? lol

Yeah, pretty sure a nuclear detonation would cause inconveniences for game developers. So, don't, you know, set one off...

is that a serious question? insufficient funding is the most likely cause for a game to get canceled.

Well another example along those lines would be, what was it... Mt. St. Helens? I think. Say she blew and half the planet got sent into another ice age. Same difference, disaster either way, but the range of those events would surely kill quite a few game developers. Kind of the meaning of the word crisis, ya know?

A nuke would probably delay a game unless the game information was not backed up elsewhere.

GameSpot has an old article on games that got cancelled. It should help give you an idea of why games get the axe. I'll see if I can dig up the article. EDIT: Found the feature: http://www.gamespot.com/gamespot/features/video/vg_graveyard/index.html

But yeah, most reasons for game cancellation are of economic nature. Dev cycle could be stalled, too expensive to recoup costs with projected sales, publisher could shift resources towards a more lucrative franchise/project.
