What games warrant a 10/10?

I think a game has to prove to be the very best of its genre at the time of its release. It's very important to only gauge games against other games in the same category. That's why I believe something like Batman Arkham City is the only game last gen that deserved a 10/10. To me it is the clear cut pinnacle of the action adventure genre. It has no superiors at the moment and nothing comes close in quality.

I would have to say:

-Descent [DOS/Win95/PSX] gets a 10/10 because it first introduced the 6DoF genre for games.

-Dust: An Elysian Tail [Xbox 360 ArcadeWindows] While not a 10/10, this games definetly deserves about a 9/10 simply becasue the majority of the games was made by one dude who did a better job at it than most AAA studioes could ever do.

goldeneye that is my measurment stick for fpses and quite frankly only 6 other titles come close- those being pd the three timesplitters games and the remake of goldeneye 

Superman 64

I would go back farther to the snes days. If I can go back and objectively play a game that is like 10 years old and still be amazed how good it is I think the case could be made its a classic. Lots of games from different eras could be classics. I would say for snes chrono trigger and super metroid are examples but people might disagree.

I would say doom is a classic and so is quake

I've played hundreds of games in my lifetime, and I've rated over 400 games on this site, and only 5 times ever given out a 10. Those games are Final Fantasy VII, Super Mario Bros. 3, Dark Cloud 2, Chrono Trigger (the original version, not DS rerelease), and most recently The World Ends With You. Cloud_765

My ten out of ten score went to SMB3, Metal Gear Solid and REmake

I spent sooo much freaking time playing that game multiplayer on the network at my school in high school. It's still fun to this day, I downloaded it (along with Descent 2 & 3) from GoG a few months back when it was on sale for $3.99.

Any Call Of Duty or Gears Of War game deserve 10/10 for me. Other people may disagree but alot of my favorite gaming experiences have been whilst playing these two gaming franchises online, and I have also spent more time playing these games than any other game!

Oh I'm just about the biggest fan of Pikmin there is! Pikminmaniac's even my PSN ID. I don't know what it will score here and I don't care. The first two Pikmin games are 10/10 games in my book (if I had to pick, I'd say the first was the best) and I know I'll love the third based on what I've seen.

But if you'd like me to make a guess anyways I'd say in the 8.5-9.0 range. The first two games got 8.9 and 9.2 respectively on gamespot.
