My first game was pong on the Atari 2600 but the platform that got me into games like crazy was the NES and PC.
Saw/Played Mario at an Uncle's house and got mesmerised by the whole thing...My dad got me the NES and i reacted like the kid who got the N64 (there is a youtube vid)...Used to play with my cousins for like 9 hours straight and after that, was exposed to a DOS game called Bricks...moved to the PC and played Wolf 3D, NFS 1, Prince of Persia.
The rest, as they say is history ;)
Suprisingly the console that got me into gaming was the Playstation. I had a NES, SNES and Genesis before that and I enjoyed playing on it but I did REALLY get into gaming until I became a young teen. \
In my eyes the PS just had so many games with awesome stories that really caught my eye and turned me into the gamer that I am today.
Hmm, tough to answer. First game I ever played was at a fun fair, a semi-mechanical affair. First home system I ever laid hands on was one of those boxes with variations of Pong. The machine that made me a gamer, though, was the first system I ever bought, a Commodore 64.
I enjoyed playing games when I was younger, from teh Atari 2600 through the SNES. But I never really played during the N64/PS era. But, my brother had a PS, and it gave me enjoyment with a couple RPG's and Dance Dance Revolution. So, I got one, and that was some what short lived. But, what really got me into gaming was when I got a GameCube. Ever since then its been my favorite hobby. I added an original GBA, and eventually replaced that with the original DS (haven't transitioned to the Lite yet). Then, I jumped on the Wii at launch. Got a PS2 to catch up on its vast library of RPGs, and now love my Xbox 360.
So, I've played games my whole life. But it wasn't really until the last several years that I really got into it.
