We all see that he success of call of duty has popularised the fps genre, and because of this, a gazillion clones come out of the wood work. This is probably a really good thing for fps fans, but for someone who is tired of the fps genre it kinda sucks and im sure a lot of you feel the same.

My question is what genre do you guys wanna see take the limelight next, so we can have more similar titles to our favorite games???

None. Whenever a genre becomes popular the quality drops significantly in order to appeal to the brain dead masses.

I can't agree with you 100%. even tho im not a huge fan of first person shooters, there are plenty of them that have really great quility. I believe when games get popular, there a lot of similar titles competing tobe the best. overall i'd say fps games this gen are made of a higher quality than last gen. And you must realize that I dont mean all.... cuz there are some terrible ones.

Modern Day Action Adeventure (mix of platforming, gunplay and puzzles), the only games like this are Uncharted and Tomb Raider, and Tomb Raider is already getting a reboot so Uncharted will be the only game like this

Puzzle Platformer genre. We just dont see them anymore. I have a addiction to puzzle platforming from Tomb Radier games but no other games offer what TR does. Its one of the most unique games, & untapped genres.

Thew new TR reboot will most likey be a survival game from what ive read. So at this point there arent anything else to fill the void in that lifeless genre.

I would also say the Stealth Genre. Besides the old Spinter cell games there are no stealth games anymore. The only things that come anywhere close to those games would be something like Hitman, or MGS ( & MGS to me is an action game mostly ). Really we dont have any stealth games.

My 2 favorite genres with literally no games being made to fill those voids. It sucks

There is Uncharted, but that is about it, I am so annoyed that Tomb Raider is having a reboot because that will probably ruin the series for me. As for stealth I agree, Hitman Absolution is coming so that will add another stealth game to my collection (my other being Splinter Cell HD Trilogy).

No. There isnt Uncharted. I love the Uncharted series but its action movie thrill ride. Its almost pure 3rd person shooter known for its amazing ride, & set pieces.

When i want the best 3rd person, story oriented, shooter experience out there . . . UC is my game. When i want puzzle platforming TR is my game. People compare them & aside from the theme of the game they're actually complete opposites.

TR is 90% puzzle & platforming. You move from tomb, to tomb solving gigantic puzzles while using platforming. UC is 90% shooter with maybe 3or 4 microscopic in size, puzzles. TR & UC offer something completely different from each other & that is exactly what they could never replace one or the other, & exactly why they cant be compared.

AS for the TR reboot we just have to wait & see what they deliver. Im sure what ever they do deliver will be one hell of an amazing game but i dont think it will please either of us in the puzzle platforming department. So you're not the only one who is worried about the reboot

& as for Hitman Absolution it looks like another Splinter cell Conviction ( which im not a fan of ) so im very unsure of whether i will like it or not. Lets just hope that for the majority of the game will be very much like Hitman Blood Money with big, open, sandbox levels & many ways to complete your mission. I have hope.

Well Uncharted is the closest thing in my collection, but i see what you mean, i have both games and enjoy both. As for Hitman, I haven't played conviction (due to owning a ps3) but i have heard enough about it, and if hitman does the same, i will be pissed off alot!

Metal Gear? Action game? More of you're mindless drivel. Those games are pure stealth experiences especially when playing on the higher difficulties. Hell, Metal Gear Ac!D 1 & 2's gameplay completely revolve around stealth.

You also seemed to have forgotten the entire Theif series. -New game in development
The Hitman series are all stealth games -New game in development
All three Deus-Ex games can be played as a pure stealth game -Recently released game
All the games in the Siren series are stealth games. -Episodic entry out in '08
Cold War is a stealth game much in the vein of Splinter Cell
Death to Spies. -New game out in '09
Commandos 1-3.
Tenchu 1-2, Stealth Assassins, and Wrath of Heaven are all superb games (everything after Wrath Of Heaven is trash).

There are far more stealth games out there than just Splinter Cell. You just have to pull your head out of your ass to see them.

Console JRPGs. I don't like how all the "good" JRPGs are on handhelds. Handheld gaming just isn't as fun.

It's a shame that most western gamers simply dismiss JRPGs are "stupid anime crap" or "underdeveloped." If they'd only actually try playing through the story a bit, they'd understand.

JRPGs are great because of their battle systems, it seems Japanese RPG developers like to concentrate on making their battle systems great more than western developers do.

Action adventures. Legend of Zelda feels like it is the sole game in the genre right now, why can't we have more?

Hitman could be played as a total TPS if you wanted.

Same with Deus Ex.

Same with the newer MGS'. MGS 4 in particular.

There needs to be a new Splinter Cell, and get rid of the action elements.

Hitman could be played as a total TPS if you wanted. -Except its not all that effective and not what the game truly designed for. Bump up the difficulty and see how well that works out.

Same with Deus Ex. -No sh!t but you can choose to play it as a pure stealth game. That's the beauty of Deus-Ex, choice.

Same with the newer MGS'. MGS 4 in particular. -Again bump up the difficulty and try that; I promise you that you won't get very far.

That's not the point though is it. They can all be played as such. They aren't exactly pure stealth games.

Mindless drivel? Pull my head out of my ass? I detect some hostility? If you want to to correct me & my perception then that's fine but do it without insulting me.

MGS4 is mostly an action game . . . . to me that is. Especially the last half of MGS4. If you dont agree then correct me, without hostility. I was never into the MGS series so i wouldn't know. This was simply my perception after playing through one game in the series.

I played a little of MGS1 when it was released & remember the shooting segments & boss fights more than anything. I dont feel like arcadey boss fights have any place in a stealth game. I also never fully understood how the stealth system worked in the original & MGS4 as well. There were segments where you are forced into combat so maybe you can see how i felt it was an action game.

Did i say anything bad about hitman? No. Hitman & Splinter cell are my 2 favorite series, both have stealth & offer stealth in a different way.

Deus EX HR was my favorite game of 2011 ( for obvious reasons ).

The others you mentioned i either haven't played or are PC exclusive games.

Stealth games are few & far between. Especially true stealth games.

I dont want any one genre to become more popular than another, because all that does is make developers want to make clones of the successful game that pushed the genre into fame.
