I would pick by "most fun." That said, I am going with, you know it, Final Fantasy X. I also liked Tidus.
I enjoyed playing FFVIII the most but FFVII has always got my vote for best FF game due to all the new innovations it brought to the series. The PS1 just opened up tons of new options and the series has never been the same since VII. I still need to go through X and XII, however, so after I get through them I may have to change my thinking. ;)

ehhh idk...i thought VIII sucked pretty hardcore....and X-2 wasnt that fantastic either....but i agree it is a tough to pick one hahahah
in terms of story-ff7
in terms of gameplay-ff12
best character-auron (ff10)
best snes final fantasy-FF4oldvander
hahaha oh man i dont think i could pick a fav character...there were so many that i LOVED in these games =/
i don't understand why everyone thinks 12 has the best gameplay. i thought 12 was by far the most monotonous of them all.
imo 6 and 7 were the best.

They must have not played FF11 lol. It's pretty much a rip off the FF11 combat system. The combat 2 me was very boring and it has the weakest story out of all the FF games.

you jerk! He was asking for which game. stay on topic. Mine would be Final Fantasy 3 (American version)
Well its a bit hard to choose just one ff game, i'm allowed to like more than one final fantasy as a favourite.
And try to add less of a bulls**t response next time)
i think ten was the best personally. 7 really seemed weird to me, why did sephiroth turn into an octopus monster during the final battle? i dont know?
at least ten was modern enough not to use abstract plot holes to make the game look cooler. i think it really depends on which final fantasy fits your needs, 7 is really popular because it was the first many people played, and any ff they played after that seemed foreign. i liked 12 the second best because twelve had a battle system that didnt bore me to tears. ff ten has the best music. back to zanarkand is my favorite.
check out the alleged battle system that 13 will use.

turn based battle is kind of outdated anyway.
i dont really like final fantasy because its fanbase is so biased towards seven, since seven was the first fantasy for many people to play

ff11 was a rip off of the combat system of every mmo, so you really cant say that ff12 is the first game to be unoriginal.[QUOTE="Sonir77"]i dunno man there all goodHonenheim

Mrwhatsisname-Is this guy a jerk too? he posted opinions about different final fantasy games. Oh my god the apocalypse!
I thought XII had horrible game play. It was like a One player MMO. Even the Bazar system was like an MMO.
(Sell a bunch of useless items to someone, they cash it in for a quest, and sell you the item they recived for even more.)
Meh! Why does my character have to wait to attack? Just swing the darn thing already!

Well, it's always been that way. Final Fantasy XII uses the active time bar just like most of the others, it just isn't in the typical you stand on one side, the enemy stands on the other side format.
For me, it's a very close one but I think FFVII just edges it out for me, although FFVIII, FFX and FFXII all come pretty close IMO. It's a fairly tough one to call, but all FFs rock anyway.

Yeah, what did you expect? Does it really matter? If you want them to attack fast, use a gambit to cast haste on the party at all times. I don't see how they could improve the gameplay significantly.
It looks a bit like MMOs, but I like it much better since you have to plan your stuff and you don't have to constantly mash buttons. I see your point though, it can get boring for some people to just walk around and kill everything without doing anything if you don't enjoy the game as a whole, but trash mobs are even more annoying in other RPGs imo.
For me, the best FF game is a two-way tie between FF12 and Crisis Core.
Dirge of Cerebrus, FF7, FF10, FF4, FF6, FF1-2 and FF5 are all runner-ups.
