[QUOTE="texasgoldrush"]Its a fan created translation...and it is so much better and more realistic. There is more talk of death, Kefka (which is Cefca in this version) can say "kill them" unlike the censored NOA version. Edgars sexual comments are more apparant and their is some language (they took out the worst language in the newer patches, which is okay). Also, there is a new title screen with Celes standing on the beach in her opera dress on solitary island, looking almost as good as the FMV still for FF Anthology. I have played up until the start of Sabin's scenario...but this translation is so far so very good. I had to get used to the espers being called phantom beasts though.SpaceMoose

Sounds interesting, but I've already played the game so much that I'll probably just wait for the inevitable official remake. I don't think different text is enough to make me play through the game again at this point, especially given that I'm relatively sure they are going to remake all of them up to IX (or at the very least VII) in the not too distant future.

I think FFV will be remade next for the DS....then its the big one. I think VI should be a PS3/ Xbox 360 remake, not a DS one.

Wow....Celes introduction is really been altered for the SNES...in the Japanese version it says "...under her uniform, lies a nobody" (instead of "Product of genetic engineering, a battle-hardened Magitek Knight, with a spirit as pure as snow..."), which really casts her as a tragic character. I think one of my fave games and character just got better.

I haven't played too many games that make me feel emotional, but half life 2 comes to mind. Half life 2 just really put me into the game because the characters just sort of sucked you into the story and made you feel like you were actually in the game (sorry for that brief spiritual journey :P). I can't really give specific details because I don't want to spoil the game for anyone who hasn't played it yet.

I am actually quite surprised noone mentioned Mafia (PC) here. The storyline of the game is so well-written (of course, the Godfather and Goodfellas influences are there), but I sincerely think it's the progress of how your character, Tommy, grows from being the cab-driver to a mafia hitman that you feel so attached to him. From the gameplay to the in-game cinematics, the story unfolds at a good pace along with a believeable plot. The reason why it hit me in the gut till this day is still the ending of the game (I won't spoil it), but it left me in so much shock that I replayed the last mission just to see if there is some hidden "alternative ending" trigger. Rivetting and powerful. The sequel has a LOT to live up to in my opinion.

I cried like a baby during the microwave sequence in MGS4, but overall the most emotional game would be Theresia for the DS, which actually came out just last year (and I've been gaming since SNES!) It is bar none the most depressing gaming experience I've ever had. The ending still disturbs me
