I would have to say that Aero Fighters for the SNES is the rarest game that I own. I also have Ninja Gaiden Trilogy for the SNES, which can fetch a good chunk of change.

Here are a few games worthy of noting down for this topic.
* Mega Man X for SNES- With perfect condition box, instruction manual, everything from factory packaging.
* Aladdin for SNES- With perfect condition box, instruction manual, everything from factory packaging.
I don't really collect rare games, I am a huge nostalgia and video game collector though. I have some games that are hard to find, but they aren't very rare in terms of pricing or anything notable.
EDIT: I remembered that I have "The Legend of Zelda: Gold Cartridge Edition" for the NES. I think that's pretty rare, I'm not too sure though.

Yeah, I really wish I would have kept all that stuff. Most of the rare games I have are from a rental store that decided to sell off their older products, its amazing how many "rare" games they were selling!

I own a slew of games for my Famicom and Famicom Disk System i've had to import from Japan. Also most of my Vectrex games and Some of the Atari 2600 games I have (like the adult games, Xonox double enders, etc) are pretty uncommon. Have an Aladdin Deck Enhancer with all of the cartridges in box for my 8-biit NES. Same with Cheetaman II. Also some cartridges for the Arcadia 2001 system. I've been collecting this stuff for way too long.
original pocket monsters green version, probably not rare, but got it before ebay from a mate who got it from a brother who was an english teacher in japan... so would have been rare when i got it consider i was in new zealand... got full packaging, box, handbook and game... ironically i had clocked red/blue/yellow so often at the time that i could play it without needing a translation, the pokemon images are GREAT though, TBH after green/red/blue the quality of pokemon images went downhill (since they all made them cute and cuddly after it was such a big hit)
also have an original duke nukem atomic edition, also not that great, but i think what makes games special is the fact that you played them so much, etc
Chrono trigger, that's the only one. Unless I count the bad rare games I have for NES.
SagaRain
I remember when Chrono Trigger was the holy grail of popular "rare" games. I tried to get a copy about 10 years ago, and I couldn't find any under $250. I have a friend that had a complete version, even in the shrink wrap. He bought it from a hardware store in my home town that sold some video games. He bought it for $10, sold it for $2,500! He also bought a sealed Star Fox and Zelda: Link to the Past from the same place. Literally a treasure trove of screwdrivers and video games:)
The thing about the video game industry is that remakes really lower the value of older games, for obvious reasons. A perfect example of this is the black label version of Final Fantasy Tactics on the PS1. I had a copy and was thinking about selling it. Then Square decided to put out a remake and it just killed the value.
Suikoden 1 and 2 psx----i just love the entire series
Suikoden 3 ps2
tactics ogre psx
mario rpg snes
and a few others that i can't remember

I didn't realize them as rare games until I read the articles from any website and magazine. I knew few rare games- Gamecube's NCAA College Basketball 2k3, and Saturn's Shining Force III after I bought them.[QUOTE="BanjoMumbo"]

Yeah, I actually think finding a grey cart that predates the controversy changes is harder than finding a gold cart. I'm not sure how quickly Nintendo changed the blood and all that supposed Islamic stuff, but I imagine it didn't take them long. I own a pre-edit grey cart btw.
PS1 - Valkyrie Profile + strategy guide - both in excellent condition Black Label FF VII + strategy guide - both in excellent condition original Castlevania SOTN I have a lot more, but I don't know how rare they are, maybe just a little hard to find.Born_Lucky
It's amazing how much money those strategy guides are worth. I had a FFVII strat guide, but I have no idea where it is. I have the Black Label versions of FFVII, FFVIII, FFIX though! I alsohave the FFIX strat guide.
I Own a Copy of Final Fantasy 3 on the SNES.
Bought it at a pawn shop for $7 bucks.
I would also have to say Silent Hill on the PS1. I have not seen a copy of it in years. I bought mine new for $20(the greatest hits copy) and now its for $60 and Up on Ebay. Crazy..
Probably the original SimCity for PC (still have box, manual, etc), original Alpha Centauri for PC (also with box), and Ocarina of Time (pre-updated version). I don't really have any extremely rare games...
PS1: Legend Of Dragoon
GC: Resident Evil 2+ Nemisis (Still $35+ online last time I checked)
PS2: MGS3 I guess
GameBoy: Pokemon Red/Blue/Gold/Silver
