Isn't everyones favorite their 1st or 2nd console, or the one they had when they were 12-16?

Heirren
Nope. NES and Genesis were my first two systems. I love them, sure, but I loved Playstation and Dreamcast the most.

As great as the PS2 and SNES are, PC has been and always will be the all time best gaming platform.

Sega Mega Drive... closely followed by the PlayStation.

The pc doesn't count as a console. I know the word can't describe a pc, but game consoles exist as are. The N64 will be the N64 in 50 years. PCs just slowly evolve--they lack character. I shoot my pcs when I'm done with em, literally.

Definetly the Super Nintendo (SNES). I played the heck out of my NES as a kid and thought it ruled. Then I finally caved in and got Super Nintnedo about 2 years after it released (because they still made NES games for those 2 years). I may not have owned my SNES as long or played as much as a result, but I definetly played a lot more high-quality games on that system than most others.

After SNES, next of course would by my NES. That baby gave me 8 years of quality gaming, and I still play some of my favorites on it from time to time. I was born as a gamer on the NES.

Mine is a toss up between the NES and SNES. I love to collect games for both, but I plan on completing the ENTIRE US NES collection within the next 10 years! I have about half the entire collection now, and I will probably have all but the highest dollar items within the next 5 years. When I get down to the big boys though I will probably only purchase a few each year. After completing my NES collection, I will get more serious about completing the SNES collection before moving on to sega cart based systems.

SNES probably has the greatest overall library though, so I guess SNES would be my answer.... lol went a little off track there.

Isn't that the truth. The last real console that stressed having four people over for split screen play--for hours on end. Ghetto rigging your tvs with a divider so people couldn't "look" at the opposing teams strategy. Then when that was over, the n64 was and still is home to the best and most magical single player experiences around.

I would say snes but DC can emulate that and it would be a tough decision if it couldn't.

Eh,looks like you are describing me and some of my friends as well! We "wasted" countless hours figuring out how to do all of the brutalities.

Have to admit, the more I think about it, teh harder it is for me to really pick a one. I started with the NES, like I'm sure many in my age did, and while that meant there were lots of great games, it also meant there were lots of games that you look back on and wonder how you ever put up with them in the first place. Yet it's hard to deny some of the franchises that got their start on it, like Mega Man. With the SNES, I experienced what in my opinion is still the first "truly perfect" title, in that everything about it was flawless... Super Metroid. Even now on Virtual Console, I still get a lot of mileage out of that one. On the flip side, the genesis still had the best Sonic games in my opinion... and my brother and I bonded over Streets of Rage 2. Sadly, I never did have the Saturn, but it does seem like the Saturn was only best for those who had the ability to import stuff, while there was plenty of stuff available on the PlayStation... even if it marked the end of the era of reliable Sony products for me. Then again now that I think about it, ever since Sony entered the PlayStation division, their product quality and reliability went straight through the **** for me. And thus, why I can't ever list a PlayStation console as a "favorite"... even with the games I'd had on it, I can't help but to remember all the games those consoles have since ruined by the things falling apart on me.

I have to say Sega Genesis, simply because I have the most memories of it and I had the most fun with it. Streets of Rage 2, Toe Jam and Earl, and Golden Axe? C'mon son.

Dreamcast - outstanding visuals for it's time, library of games filled with hits like crazy taxi, shenmue 1&2, doa 2, quake 3, unreal tournament, sonic, soulcalibur, jet grind radio and tons more! Games were so hard to find where I live, it was like a game itself trying to find one :D

Thankfully I discovered the wonders of auction websites :D:D

Playstation 2 because of so many reasons. One reason that I can think of off the top of my head is FFX.
