Some glitches require a good deal of skill to exploit.

Also, Sonic is totally speed-runnable. It is a platforming game w/ a fast main character. You can go through at whatever pace you like. You might move fast but you can backtrack, etc. and take a long time if you want.
I call those speedruns as well. **** off byshop, you snively $hit heap that thinks you know everything. Go get laid bro

So because I have a difference of opinion I'm an arrogant jerkwad? I wasn't rude about it or disrespectful, I didn't resort to name calling, etc. I just explained my position and I got flamed for it. I didn't even belittle going for fast times in Sonic, I just said that I thought it was typically called something else because Sonic is already a game based on speed.
Oh well. I guess some people are just going to be the way they are going to be. For Dudersaper and Jakandsigz, I'm sending you guys a PM with thanks.

I was part of the speedrunning community for 2 years and at no point did anyone ever say "No, that's not a speedrun, because that game is made to be played fast" to any game. People did speedruns of Diddy Kong Racing. They did speedruns of Sonic games. They did speedruns of F-Zero. Speedrun and Time Attack are basically synonymous in the video game world. Hell, the Japanese even call all speedruns TA or RTA (time attack/real time attack).
So I'm not sure why you think wikipedia is the authority on the definition of the word when clearly the majority of the gaming community (and more importantly, the speedrunning community) disagrees.

And that's why I relented. Like I said, it's a made up term so the definition is what everyone thinks it is. If everyone thinks that it's a speedrun regardless of the game type, then they are right and I am wrong.
