While I think that equipment is pretty neat, it doesn't seem like it requires an entire button. The four main face buttons have always been used for things that you can always do(jump, reload, switch weapons, melee), if you don't have a piece of equipment the X button just sits there, completely useless.

Instead of this, Bungie should have made the X button a way to swap weapons with your teammates. This would be far better improvement to halos gameplay than the addition of equipment. I believe that equipment would work just as well if to launch it you pressed the 2 bumper buttons at once. Although its too late now, I think this would have reduced a little of the frustration when somebody kills you because you took the weapon they wanted.

It wouldn't be very hard to do, simply have one person hold down the X button, then when another teammate gets in range have them hold it down also. The symbol over a players head could temporarily change to one that represents the X button being held down in preparation for a switch. I know that now it is too late but still...

What do you think?

I Agree completely and i think that the x button should have stayed the same. On most games it is usually one of more important buttons but it is rendered completely useless considering you only have to press it once to deploy equipment. MAybe they could create a instance for some equipment where you would have to set it up with button mashing of some sort.

I think the x button should have been used soley for t-bagging corpses of your enemies. No more clicking the left thumbstick. But seriously it should have stayed the same. Tapping x for reload was second nature after halo CE and halo 2

I'll be honest I play a bit of Halo with friends here and there, but am no expert. What does the d-pad do in halo? Could it be a new avenue for one hit buttons? I know many games have abandoned the d-pad as a directional control in order to fit more commands, is this an option for future halos?

They should make a button just for teabagging suckas online. Sadly it would please many of them greatly.

I'm happy with the new reload system (since now you can reload dual wielded weapons seperately). It doesn't take that long to get used to the change either, it became second nature to me after three games. However, I agree that the X button's function does seem a little underwhelming.

the d pad does nothing of importance in halo or halo 2. They should've just put the use equipment button on the dpad instead of the x button
