Soo after the very mixed views on Final Fantasy 13, what would you like FF15 to be like?
This topic is locked from further discussion.
I would like to see some proper magic in the next release. Not just the 8 or soo spells that was in 13. Where has comet, ultima and earth etc gone?
Real time combat system a la Ninja gaiden with some improvements in possible abilities over time.
35+ hours story without a 17 years old ''im gonna save the world and never give up'' kind of character. best FF games had a darker protagonist, and there's a reason for that. Mature story wouldn't hurt either.
Open world with a lot of sidequests that actually have a point apart from getting better weaponry.

Surely you jest. My grand-children will be playing that game before me.
plus it aint going to be anything special tbh, same as ff13-2. It's a shame i have such a low opinion of these new FFas i love the FF series!!! Why did they have to go soo downhill!![QUOTE="Atmanix"][QUOTE="Dracula68"]We still have Versus 13 to come out.....kingkarl123

FFXIII was the reason I stuck with Sony over getting an Xbox 360. Then it was announced it wasn't exclusive anymore. Then I bought it and it was awful.
I really hate that game now. Even my wife was making fun of it while I was playing it.

The only thing that game did was make me never forget the annoying and always whining Hope!
Actual Role Playing would be a nice change of pace. You know, something to justify the "RP" in "JRPG".
If you want to restore my faith in Final Fantasy, this is what needs to be done.
-Bring back the old team members that know how to make a Final Fantasy game than what we have today.
-An open-world with a lot of sidequests and distractions to focus on. Going from point A to point B is expected, but give us enough material to play around with instead of the bulls*** we saw in Final Fantasy XIII.
-The ability to control everybody on the team instead of one person, like in the golden days.
-A more acceptable cast that has a great story for each character. The story should also be amazing, like how it was in Final Fantasy IV or VI, with endings that tie up everything together.
-A battle system that harkens back to the days of the golden era. The last good Final Fantasy that saw this was Final Fantasy X, but please ramp up the difficulty a bit.
-Bring back what made Final Fantasy a success, such as Cid and chocobos. Also, finding loot is a plus as well. Towns should also be aplenty, with a variety of weapons, armor, and item shops.
-Of course, an excellent soundtrack to boost; this is one of the two areas that Square exceled in with FF13, besides the visuals.
-Visuals won't be a problem here, but make sure they don't become the spotlight, which is what Square focused on too much, thus making Final Fantasy the failure it is today. Gameplay should be fun and exciting from top to bottom.

Despite all the archaic stuff found in that game, FF13 still feels more like a proper Final Fantasy, not to mention a balanced, polished and fun game.

I agree with everything you say. We really need a proper world map to explore and find secret villages, caves and locations etc. just like FF7/8/9.
I would also be happy to be able to talk to people in towns and cities, while exploring through their houses and finding items. How could they take all of that out of FF13. It's one of the best parts of a FF game!
They need to make it more open, preferably just like Dragon Quest 8. Also, a lot of stuff to do on the side, side quests (no "obvious" things such as a quest log and all that, more like the things in FF7-9). Preferably a well made and "deep" minigame (I don't know what you guys are on about, the blitzballing of FF10 was the best ever. I spent HOURS on that and I know people that spent even more than that! Gaining abilities, leveling up, recruiting new players etc it was great).
Also, I absolutely do not want them to go too far. I don't want them to turn into a wrpg and I don't want them to go deep down the anime/manga path with manga artstayl and cliches.
I feel as if they with FF13 was trying too hard. One of the biggest flaws about FF10 was that it felt more linear than the others and many pointed this out, they made a fince choice with FF12 but with FF13? Not so much.

As in what? It could not be the pick dialog or moral picks since those things has nothing to do with role playing.
What? Choices are the very basis of "role playing".
Character creation and gender choice would be a start, a story can still be made around those options. Less child characters who are always high pitched, whiny and annoying, no main lead who's younger than 25, a story that isn't filled with the same tired JRPG cliches and complete open world exploration instead of a forced linear path.
Basically doing something new with the series for a change intead of a very beautiful, but dull interactive movie filled with one annoying cliche after another.

I never mentioned Lost Odyssey, but I hear it's a solid RPG that's worthy enough to be called a Final Fantasy title should that ever happened. And no, FF13 is NOT a proper Final Fantasy game. Not by a long shot!
They were supposed to stop with the first game hence the name Final Fantasy.[QUOTE="Altiar25"]Make Versus 13 then stop. Dracula68
Which is true, except that Final Fantasy turned out to be their biggest hit and did really well in not just Japan, but over in the US and elsewhere too.
I'd like to see the combat system of FFX brought back. Turned based with the ability to switch members in and out as needed. I'd also like to see a job/leveling system similar to tactics.

i do hope wwe dont have to switch every single member for them to get xp like in ffx, i want the job system back, awesome cutscenes and awesome characters.

Thinking about that now, that was kinda annoying. Having to get every character to do something in battle just to gain experience points was a bothersome chore, but in the end, I didn't mind it, because in the end, the rewards would be worth it and I would have such an easier time going through the game. That's one of the game's biggest flaws though; just how easy it is because of all that time invested into grinding. But I guess it can be challenging if you don't do it often...

I only brought it up because I read it had some Final Fantasy veterans working on it, including Sakaguchi. It's just underwhelming and it feels like they stopped trying past a certain point. You say FF13 is not a proper FF game; out of curiosity I'd like to know, do you not consider FFX-2 to be proper either? is it the fluid combat system that vexed you? Because otherwise, FF13 is an innovative game with memorable characters, a decent story and high production values, like all the good FFs in the past. Because otherwise, FF13 is an innovative game with memorable characters, a decent story and high production values, like all the good FFs in the past. Much moreso than 12.I'll say this; the one thing that I find positive about Final Fantasy is that at least every game in the series is different and therefore is an acquired taste, so some people love one game, others hate another. It comes with the territory. That being said, I need to get my hands on a copy of Lost Odyssey because I keep hearing how good it is and this is coming from Mistwalker, who actually made a decent role-playing game out of Blue Dragon and I think may have outdone themselves with Lost Odyssey. As for Final Fantasy X-2, truth be told, my time with the game was brief and to disappoint you, nothing about X-2 vexed me as far as I'm concerned. You're entitled to your opinion on FF13, but it was garbage. Innovative? Not at all. Memorable characters? As the game progressed, I kept on caring less and less about the cast, uninterested in their story. High production values, I'll give you that, but that's to be expected of Square Enix these days, since that's what Final Fantasy is currently all about to them - all flash, no substance, and you know what? That kind of philosphy pisses me off greatly these days, but that's just me of course.

The card mini-game of FFVIII is my favourite of the franchise. I'd definitely love to see something like that return.
I thoroughly enjoyed Lost Odyssey and would certainly recommend it to any JRPG fan especially those who favour the more traditional Final Fantasy games.i like the FFXII base the most, so i guess thats the direction id like to see the series go. specifically, i like how there were sprawling areas all connected to each other (the sense of scale worked really well in dungeons too). really, id like to see them connected even further like in DQVIII like somebody else mentioned. its basically the overworld of the older FF games only in 3D. add some day/night and weather cycles to the more recent whimsical flair of final fantasy environments and you have a great base for a game world. in that game world, stick a combat system that doesnt warp from the map to a battle screen, minimize the HUD, and you have my ideal final fantasy game.
for crazy features, online functionality might be interesting. perhaps theres an online economy where players sell their rarest loot. there would be numerous character classes (jobs, whatever) with their own gear so not everybody would just hoard their best stuff.

I play plenty of WRPG's, only the ones that allow for gender choice though, and character creation if possible. I avoid the WRPG's of Risen, Two Worlds, Arcania and Witcher since they're male only leads and I'm sick to death of male only leads in games. Any RPG which forces you to play as male only I avoid like the plague.
Fixed gender ones I tend to be cautious about since more often than not it's one female and something like three males, unacceptable since the female character is usually done as some weakling instead of being able to choose if they can be a warrior or other class.
JRPG's I largely avoid due to constant male leads more often than not, cliche characters, child characters who are always the same, dull stories that offer nothing new, annoying linear paths that don't offer the chance to just explore for a little while in order to break up the boredom and little to interest me. So far only one JRPG has caught my interest - Resonance Of Fate - and with that I tend to play as Leanne the most while enjoying the combat and the freedom, though it's not incredible amounts of freedom, to explore and take my time.

then if you dont like jrpgs why you even hope they make the game you want, you know they wont change their genre just to suit you, the genre is defined even if it changes a bit over time. Also i highly dislike mute characters, i prefer they give him/her a face and a voice so they can give a proper story.,
I disagree with the dull stories, for i find jrpgs have mostly better stories than anything offered in wrpgs, but i guess since you dont play most of them you would hardly know.
Now take this as an advice, all i see in your post is you are a narrow minded person (probably even feminist) who doesnt enjoy a good story or refuse to play a good game because is not aligned with your philosophical point of view, they are just games and you should enjoy it for what they are, entertainment , you probably dont even enjoy a good read because of the so called "male protagonists", if you cant enjoy something because of that, well its your loss. As i see it it comes more logical to me the usual rpg cliches since males always like to fight body to body while usually females are non agresive caring people hence the healer type, i do not see that as weakness.
Now what i just put in red is just sad to see you dont even try other games because of that.
dialog or moral picks are not part of making a character's role.

Yes they are? There's no role playing without you deciding how your character interacts with other characters.

really as a matter of fact only now that was added to rpgs, old rpgs had a few choises here and there but nothing significant, yet they were way awesome because everyone experienced a great story instead of making 542452 ways of finishing a game.

Old RPGs had a ton more dialog options than today's. And you actually chose exactly what your character saying, instead of just having to choose between generic good/neutral/evil options.
