Going through my game collection here on GS, just reminiscing on some old games i used to play a lot - I see some of them that were scored fairly poorly.

Of course back then we wouldn't notice these things, we'd love a James Bond game just because it was James Bond. Considering I rarely get a game that scores less than an 8, these were some surprises.

List off a few, here's some I liked and the score GameSpot gave each.

- Tomorrow Never Dies (PS) 5.7

- Cool Boarders 2 (PS) - 6.5

- Driver (PS) 7.7

- South Park (The granddaddy) (PS) 1.0

- Street Fighter EX2 Plus (PS) - 7.6

- Syphon Filter 2 (PS) - 6.6

- Xmen Mutant Academy (PS) - 6.4

I really liked The Legend of Dragoon on the original PS, but I think that only got a GS score of 6.5.

Hmm.. let's see. All for N64: Gauntlet Legends - 4.3 Kobe Bryant NBA Courtside - 5.9 Cruisn USA - 6.1 Mario Kart 64 - 6.4 I just busted out the 64 and Mario Kart with a couple of my friends yesterday, and that game's still fun!! Easily one of my top 5 favorite games ever, I can't believe it scored so low.

I actually agree with that review lol. I think Mario Kart 64 is the worst in the series. Some pretty bland graphics, sluggish handling, and when sat next to Diddy Kong Racing, underserving of any score above 7.0.

  • DBZ/GT games(PS1, 3.3, 1.2)
  • Cruis'n USA (N64, 6.1)
  • Mario Kart 64(N64, 6.4)
  • Rampage World Tour(N64,5.0)
  • Super Smash Bros.(N64,7.5)
  • Virtua Cop 2(Saturn, 7.1)
I would list NES, SNES and Genesis games but they weren't rated here in their time frame.

yeah me too, along with the gawd-awful total recall game. i guess bad games were more widely accepted in the nes days since there weren't many other options.

I'd say the Rocko's Modern Life video game. Didn't get a score, but it also didn't get good reception.

Guardian Legend (NES)

konvikt_17

That game gave me nightmares as a little kid, even Battle Toads on the NES was ridiculously easy compared to that.
I'm pretty sure I'm unique in that as I've never heard anyone else mention it like that but it was insanely complex and difficult from the perception of a kid of about 9-10 when it was released.

yea guardian legend is the most ridiculously hardest game ive ever played, especially when the screen has like 50 enemies on it at the same time(exageration but alot of enemies moving really fast) plus it requires utmost concentration and quick reflexes. its just an amazing game imo, i havent found a game that could beat it. i will continue to play it until my NES dies which hopefully doesnt happen

Keio Flying Squadron 2 (Saturn)

Scored around 6-7/10, I guess. Anyone know that game? I think it's a pretty entertaining 2D jump n run with sweet japanese-esque visuals.

I thought Batman Returns for the SNES was a surprisingly well movie-to-game adaption.

For games that actually got a score on GS:

Legend of the Dragoon on PS, the Battletanx games on the N64, and Mario Kart 64. I'm sure there were others though.

Hidlyde (NES)

Looking back, both games are horrible, however I still occasionally enjoy playing Hidlyde.

Yeah, I loved that one, on the GCN. I thought it was pretty much the same as the original, I don't know why it scored so badly. Besides that: Toy Story 2 (N64) Gex 64 (N64) California Speed (N64) Man, I loooved that one. Bomberman Hero (N64) That one was one of my favorite platformers ever.

- Xmen Mutant Academy (PS) - 6.4

Syphon Filter 2 received one of the most unfair grades in the history of Gamespot!

Gosh, tons, but I still like them if for nothing else the nostalgia, sometimes I can legitamately have fun with them to this day.

Glover for N64, I still enjoy this game. It was just... different.

Incoming for Dreamcast, Got bombarded with mediocre reviews for the repetativeness, but I enjoyed it.

Pac man 2 for genesis, more or less because it was a christmas present from my parents.

Dynamite cop for dreamcast, scored mid to low scores, sequal to Die Hard arcade, def. gets old for me, but once in a while I love to play it.

Kao the Kangaroo for dreamcast, scored poorly I remember playing the demo and loving it and I haven't played it in a few years, but these games always get me.

Sonic Shuffle, hard as hell, but I've had quite a bit of fun playing it over the years.

Bomberman for the N64, Army Men series for N64,
