You can post what you didn't like about grand theft 4.

I personally didn't like the mere fact that everytime you going a vechile the radio system would start from the beginning. It should have been like san andreas or the others. where you enter the vechile the whatever is on thats what that plays. its sounds like its promoting songs. How many times must i hear swizz beats.

Missions was too easy. beat the game without any cheats i didn't really get the hung of much of it. But on the bright side its a dam good game i must say,

I like the new vehicle aiming system better but I wish classic controlls would allow you to use the side buttons to get a side view of the car, rather than the joystic. It was always easier to center the camera this way.

...And parachutes.

not enough weapons

not enough side missions

not enough things to spend your money on

not enough ways to earn money once the missions are over

not enough clothing for niko

not enough vehicles

too much pointless showing off of rockstars programming ability (the tv shows for example - totally needless)

the on foot and weapon controls still need alot of work

i don't understand how this game scored higher than san andreas. whilst being a great technical achievement there's simply not enough content to warrant a 10 in my eyes

Car Chase missions got old after a bit, and yeah not really having much to spend your money on was kind of dumb. I still enjoy it though.

Hmm, absolutely the fact that if you for example are standing in a road, and you are seeing no cars, then you turn around and then back real quick, then there's several cars. I guess this has been in every GTA game so far. But it might get annoying, because if you are gonna steal a car, and look around for the cops, then the cops might spawn just when you are stealing the car.

Guess that was a bad formulated paragraph, but what the heck.

actually that was in Vice city as well, probably the other GTAs (i havent played the others yet) so if someone could confirm this thatd be cool.

things i hate about gta4:
- the crappy realistic driving
- Niko
- Nikos voice
- how niko has to walk up EVERY step when walking up stairs. cant you just skip a few?
- the city. i just didnt like the feel of the city. it felt too...blah, boring. they should have done Vice City again.
- how Niko jumps. he jumps worse than Tommy.

I guess I just didn't like Niko at all.

i haven't finished the game yet but it's still GTA and i still love it regardless.

well when your in a car and you get a phone call theres no problem answering it, but then when someone phones you outside the car you cant enter until the conversation is finished. i mean its not as if he's scared of getting caught by the police because he answers the phone in the car......its just inconsistant.

I think the whole idea of an in-game social life is pointless. This means that now we get punished on the game if we can't be bothered to do some menial, unrewarding and repetetive task with a "friend" every 5 minutes in between missions.

Unrewarding? U get discounts with Jacob, taxi rides from Roman, special benefits from girlfriends and sometimes when you ride with them you learn new things about the characters that go along with the story.

The way rockstar designed it is that Niko is just a simple guy who does what he does just to make money. He's not like CJ who's black and fritters his money away on namebrand clothing and car mods. Also Niko isn't a lunatic as the other main characters, he does what he does because, he can do it and do it well. However, I agree that there should have been more clothing stores, the websites are kinda pointless but, funny (www.littlelacysurprisepagent.com) & (www.roidsforlittleboys.com).

If gamespot stuck to they're old system this would've gotten another 9.6 like the others

The thing i didn't like was the traffic speeding up and hitting you. Everytime i got hit i have to murder the driver. You see crossing the road hold brakes skid on the road and say oh **** The aiming was great i must say. The whole fact that i am done with the game will i want to play it again. I don't know. The music irritates me. Its like its on repeat. Played the entire game it didn't freeze on me not once. Why can't i put in my own music on my harddrive and listen too. At least i should be able to tatoo that guy up.

1) Money in this game is irrelevant after a certain mission is completed early in the game. Ninety percent of the time the motivation for completing missions is for money. Why do I need so much money when I literally have nothing to spend it on? Clothes, things to do around town, and weapons? And I need 500k for this? It's absurd and makes the missions (aside from the story ones) feel like a useless chore......fun while they last, but ultimately I was left feeling unfulfilled at the end. And the best part is, after all this money is obtained, Niko still talks to other characters about what a dump he's living in, how it sucks to be poor, etc. A bit strange.

2) Keeping and holding onto relationships. It's too invasive and begins to feel like a burden after I while. If you don't keep them up to date, you lose the benefits of having them at all. I also don't like being constantly rung up all the time, ESPECIALLY when phone calls immediately turn into missions (and if you don't pick up, they re-ring you every twenty seconds). That is just plain out annoying, sucks, and is unnecessary.

3) Too many irrelevant, filler characters and missions. It felt the entire time that different characters were introduced solely for the sake of making me their errand boy to artificially lengthen the game. I want every mission to affect the story in some way, not have to do fifteen in a row just to start to get close to another major plot point that leads closer to what is important.

GTAIV is a great game, but seriously needs some fat trimmed off. R* needs to hire a professional scriptwriter among other things. For a game so technically advanced, they need to start working on it's pacing, because as it is now the story is stretched too thin at parts and becomes a faint glimmer at some points.

No mention about the lack of checkpoints? That was the most annoying aspect of it for me. Starting a mission and then spending up to a minutre just driving to where I need to go, or longer if I happen to accidently bump a police car. If I drive all the way to a shootout and get killed in ten seconds can't I just choose to restart the mission from the shootout and not have to drive all the way out there again?

Should be directed neither to rockstar nor microsoft...what's microsoft's fault? They buried R* with money to get the rights, in order to make higher profits with exclusive contents. That's their job. That's business, and it's not about giving gamers pleasure but making money. The only cheap b**** here is sony, for they didn't offer enough money, so ps3 owners like me now do consider buying a 360....yeah, sure.

I agree with every point brought up here.

Also MP seems to be buggy. The other day when i tried to play, i couldn't connect to any games, the game froze in a loading screen once and then a game started where everyone was invisible to one another.

Yeah, the music is supposed to be a big part of the whole GTA experience and I really couldn't enjoy most of the songs picked for the game. I usually just found a station that didn't annoy me as bad. The other thing is the volume gets really loud once you step into a car for some reason. It goes from a calm conversation to people yelling their lines and the car sounds so damn loud its like I am riding on the hood of the car instead of the drivers seat.

You can post what you didn't like about grand theft 4.

snorlaxlove007

-Too many cops
-Tollbooths
-Soundtrack wasn't bad, but wasn't up to previously established standards
-Some cars don't handle very well, making driving annoying from time to time
-Friends got real annoying after a while, and it shouldn't penalize you if don't want to hang out with them
-Combat's improved but still needs a little work
-Niko walking by default instead of jogging, which previous GTA characters did
-There's too much of a luck factor in a couple of the multiplayer variations for my taste. Plus the XBox Live crowd for GTA IV is getting more and more insufferable by the day especially the racing, but that's not the game's fault I guess.
-Took a step backward in the character customization department
-This game is darker in mood than I was expecting. I haven't decided if that's a bad thing or a good thing, but I felt like San Andreas was a lot sillier to the point where it couldn't possibly be taken seriously, and I think I liked that mood a bit better.

I really like the game though -- I'd agree with most players in saying that there's no way it's a 10, but it's easily one of the best games of this generation imo.

I found three major disappointments with the game.

1) Too many glitches.

2) You have to complete a certain number of missions before you can visit other parts of the island. If you try to go there too soon, you automatically get 6 stars.

3) The side activites are boring, repetitive and lack any real diversity.

There are really only two things that I didn't like about GTAIV.

One is the music selection. Liberty Rock is the station I only listen to.

The second thing is the multiplayer interface. Ending up back in the single-player part of the game can get pretty annoying.

The endless dating.

The lack anything good to spend your money on ... especially new property!

Still, it was a great game. I'm guessing the sequels that use the GTA IV engine will be absolutely unstoppable.

- The radio resets constantly. From what I hear this is a glitch with the auto-save system though so hopefully it'll get fixed soon.

- Having to constantly take your friends out. And if you don't then you lose points with them.

- The new cop system is broken. Up to two stars its fine, but once you hit three it's possible for you to never outrun your wanted level thanks to the helicopters. I remember it took me 20 minutes one time to finally escape from a three star wanted level simply because I could never get rid of the helicopter and patrol cars would constantly spawn in the direction I was headed (which is another problem if you're on a bridge or another area in which you're forced to keep going in the same direction for awhile). Four stars just makes that even harder by spawning the helicopters more often and with 5 or 6 stars just forget trying to lose your wanted level because its just not going to happen

- Cover system needs tweaking though it does work decently as it is

- Health: why the hell do I still have to find health and armor replinishing items? I understand that it makes the game harder but there's a reason that the industry has moved on to self-replinishing health. Its really frustrating in this game when I have to drive for five minutes just to get food to get back to full health. And sometimes that isn't even possible because you're stuck with low health after a mission/really bad accident and then really stupid **** happens on your way to get health that takes away the rest of your life bar. Like getting touched by a car (not run over, just bumped by a car going maybe 5 MPH max) takes away a good chunk of health. And that happens way more often than it should thanks to...

- The game's bad spawning system. Why is it that a street can be completely clear but if I turn away and look back there's suddenly five cars speeding at me? Don't even get me started about what happens when a cop car is one of the cars that magically spawns behind you.

- The auto-aim sucks when it comes to figuring out which NPC you want to target

- No property? Are you freaking kidding me? Property missions were some of the best missions in GTA:VC

I love the GTA games. But I always disliked the larger multi-part missions not saving between parts. You die (or someone you're supposed to protect) in the last part, and then you have to play all the parts over again. And I never understood why they place the savepoints before the driving part. After you reload, you usually have to drive somewhere all over again just to start the mission. At least in IV, they did give us the taxi cab feature which will instantly take you to your waypoint. But still, the mission save system has always been somewhat a pain.

And I have to agree with the dating thing. Constantly getting calls from your girlfriend or friends got old really fast. At least a couple friends give you good stuff after a certain point (like Brucie giving you instant boat or helicopter access.)
