Even though i love TLOU I'd give that away, if you pop in GTA 5 in 3 years it will still be fun as hell online and a good time just fucking around, TLOU is already old for me

GTA 5, because it's a far bigger and more varied game. Has a better pace, too.

Hmm, let´s compare socks to ice-cream.

The Last of Us has 1 playthrough of 6-10hours and once that is over, the game is done. GTA V might have a weak story but it has playability up the wazuuu. 90hours down the road you can still have a great time.

So the question is what do you like the most? a great story game or a great open world game of madness.

TLOU but I like GTA5 more overall because the multiplayer is so fun. But TLOU campaign blows gta5's out of the water.

TLOU, it's a game that sticks with you and you'll want to play again. It has better gameplay and much better characters/story. Honestly, GTA5 gets boring after 10 hours.

The Last Of Us is the better game, it also has a better and more competative multiplayer than GTA5 so TLOU isn`t exactly done when you finish the story mode.

If you want to check out some multiplayer gameplay check out this video >>

If you are looking for a great single player campaign then the last of us is definitely a much better game, but if you are looking for a game with tons of random things that you can do to kill time you will potentially get more hours out of GTA 5. Personally, I got bored with GTA 5 before finishing it, but I think I am in the minority on that.

This ^^ LOU has a waaaaay better campaign, but you'll get more hours out of GTA.

And that makes 2 of us getting bored of GTA before the end :)

Besides the blatant self-advertisement of your or a friends YT video.

I highly disagree and if you go read up on what people mostly complain about its the gameplay mechanics so since that goes again in the MP, the MP is definitely not noteworthy and particular good.

Either you are just here to post your own video content and get views or you are full of it and trolling us ;)

@mikehockbourns: Normally i would dislike that in mp games as well but not in TLOU, another thing i really dislike is radar so you can allways spot your enemys location. In The Last Of us though you can go completly silent and play super stealthy whithout being seen through walls, getting market by the enemys or seen on the radar. To do this you have to play online for a little while and go up in lv to get those perks in order to build your custom loadouts the way you like. TLOU has alot of depth and variety to the gameplay and it is a truly remarkable multiplayer game.

@Jacanuk: No self-advertisement here, just wanted to show some TLOU mp gameplay, i made the video but i don`t care if i get any views or not, im making them mostly for my self and my friends, it`s my nr 1 hobby. I can not make any money on these type of videoes, it`s copyrighted material in my vidoes, so basicly my whole YT channel is a non profit youtube channel, just wanted to explain that to you before you jump to conclusion.

That`s okey, we can`t all agree on everything, from my point of view The Last Of Us is a great and intuitive multiplayer game that sets apart from the rest and if you want to play something slower paced and a bit more tactical and methodical you should really give it a try. I have been playing alot if multiplayer shooters up through the years and The Last Of Us (mp) and (sp) is that shooter that has renewed the whole genre for me and it just feels like a fresh breeze through that thick shotem-up jungle that has pretty much stayed the same for many many years.

Im guessing the people who complain are mostly gamers who are more into fast paced 1st person shooters like COD and Halo and that is totally understandable, i can see that.

The gameplay mechanics in TLOU works great from my point of view, wish the CQC mechanics was a little bit better, but im happy with it, other than that, the core gameplay, the graphics and the animations are extremly well done, it is a really robust game so to speak, both singleplayer and multiplayer.

That's difficult. You would get more mileage out of GTA5 like the others said but you would be hard pressed to find many games as well crafted and engaging as TLoU. The multiplayer in TLoU is excellent too while I personally didn't care much for GTA5 online. I would keep both honestly

Last of us is without a doubt the best game and my favourite game i have ever played, it is completly memorable from start to finish and left me in an emotional drain days after completeing, the gameplay is great and atmosphere and story is compelling it is the one game i could play over and over again without getting bored, but only resist doing this due to the emotional state it leaves you in, i lost complete track of time playing this game and the online is a experience much more appealing than GTA's in my opinion. GTA does have a longer story but TLOU's is fullof far more quality. :)

@Jacanuk: TLoU has "6-10 hour playthrough"? Really? 6 hours? I'd love to see that. World record Speed Run link to show us, maybe? Most finish it at around the 18 hour mark.

TC, TLoU is a better game by miles.

something magical, something worth the time, my favorite games of all time are the MGS games and the Fallout games. Also the gears of war games.

I honestly game less and less each gen because my tastes diminish, either that or there is more garbage out there than before.

@MirkoS77: That's was what i was thinking as well, gonna take at least 14 hours and that is whithout the Left Behind dlc. Singleplayer has alot of replay value as well even after you finish the story mode for the first time, i have had several playthroughs on Tlou and just started my first Remastered playthrough today. I never get tired of this game, the game is just to tight.

I hardly, rarely ever-ever-ever replay single-player storyline-driven games but I've played through the Last of Us like three times already. It's THAT good. I'm sure GTA5 is the best at what it does, so maybe you should keep both games and play them for yourself.

well I started both, lol. gta 5 is the same old gta just with less heart and more more side crap and useless fetch missions. go here, drive there, pick up that, come back, talk to another crazy loud character, mix in a few "****" words for an "oh shit" effect (works for pre-pubescent boys, not me anymore).

TLOU from the get go I can see why this game won so many GOTY awards. It has heart, it actually has characters you care about, playing on hard. You have limited ammo, you have to think about how to attack enemies.

TLOU is better overall.

I should have been a little more specific, I agreed with the last part of his comment, sorry about that. Bottom line in my own words, both games are good at what they do, so choose whether you want the great SP or great MP!!

Of course you are here to pick a fight, you are taking it personal that someone doesnt like your favorite game The Last of Us. And i have played both and again you might enjoy the mp in The last of Us but even starting to compare it to GTA Online is just stupid.

Also 6-10h for The last of us is a pretty good estimate unless you are a completionist and take your time then its around 14-16h, and it still doesn't change the fact that GTA is a open world game that has a lot more content and a lot longer lifespan.

Oh, and the fastest speedrun of The Last of us is 4h.

that is rather harsh on gta v to be honest lol.

if i were to describe tlou in the same manner i could say it wasn't much more than a bunch of quick time events bundled together in fancy packaging. walk here, press triangle, move there, press triangle, something jumps out at you tap square, another tiny gameplay segment then cutscene. rinse and repeat. all taking place in levels that make call of duty seem positively open world.

that is similarly harsh and doesn't do tlou any justice for what it excels at what so ever. just like your gta comment. at least show a tiny bit of objectivity ;)

When it comes to comparing games across different genres i really don't want to say that one is definitively better than the other since they're such different games. It also depends on what kind of game you want to play. if you want a strong linear single player experience with a focus on narrative and story then pick the last of us, but if you want a more open world experience with gameplay as the primary focus then pick GTA V. I'm not saying that the gameplay of the last of us is bad or the story of GTA V is bad, they just focus more on different areas and are better at some things rather than others, as they are two different types of games. Either way, these are tow of the best games available for the PS4 right now and you'll probably be happy either way

well I started both, lol. gta 5 is the same old gta just with less heart and more more side crap and useless fetch missions. go here, drive there, pick up that, come back, talk to another crazy loud character, mix in a few "****" words for an "oh shit" effect (works for pre-pubescent boys, not me anymore).

TLOU from the get go I can see why this game won so many GOTY awards. It has heart, it actually has characters you care about, playing on hard. You have limited ammo, you have to think about how to attack enemies.

TLOU is better overall.

that is rather harsh on gta v to be honest lol.

if i were to describe tlou in the same manner i could say it wasn't much more than a bunch of quick time events bundled together in fancy packaging. walk here, press triangle, move there, press triangle, something jumps out at you tap square, another tiny gameplay segment then cutscene. rinse and repeat. all taking place in levels that make call of duty seem positively open world.

that is similarly harsh and doesn't do tlou any justice for what it excels at what so ever. just like your gta comment. at least show a tiny bit of objectivity ;)

the best GTA is Vice City (3 is a close 2nd). It captured 80s Miami better than GTA4 captured NY, better than 5 and san andreas captured LA. Im from NYC and GTA4 DOES NOT do NYC justice. The game made it seem like a ghost town, no people on the streets, in reality everywhere you look theres people, NY is also more gritty. Areas like Brooklyn were not captured well at all, Brooklyn is gritty but fancy and rough all at the same time. They can do a whole GTA based on Brooklyn ALONE with its 3 million people population.

But back on topic, they both are good games but TLOU is better.

And no one said that The Last of Us didn't have a great story that is far better then GTA´s story.

The key here was again which game you would get the most out of. But if you are like the youtuber a fan of the Last of Us then good for you, sell GTA and keep enjoying The Last of Us.

Well then you are clearly one who likes story-games more than open world games

And you are still comparing two completely different game genres to each other.

Not at all, I like open world games. Fallout is pretty much open world, I don't know whatever. I say Vice City and GTA3, even GTA4 I feel is better than GTA5 for some reason. Maybe its getting stale, maybe its the un-relateable characters in 5, something about it just doesn't draw me in, but thats just me.

You know what is telling in your comment here, you still refer to the story in GTA V, you refer to it in GTA Vice City and GTA 3 and 4. Not to mention that you name the "unrepeatable characters" which tells me that what you are after is story that can draw you in. Which is fine i am the same way, gameplay just doesn't do it for me anymore and for a game to be good it has to have a great story, a story that can draw me in.

Which is what i said in my first post. What do you like the most, story or gameplay. Because GTA V is not something that excels on the story, in fact of any GTA Game , GTA V has the weakest and most boring story , it has main protagonists that are so much stereotypes that it makes it hard to like them,

So congrats you got a good game and i am sure that The Last of Us wont disappoint you because it is indeed a very good story game.

To be honest the gameplay in both games aren't that much different. I like gameplay and story equally. Overall after playing both, I would say TLOU is the better game.

Ok, now its just getting ridiculous and i dont know why but i think this thread was a bait from the get go.

Anyways no need to debate it any further, we will just have to agree to disagree and comparing the two is almost as dumb than actually having a debate about it.

But have fun with tLOU.

I don't know why you're so upset over a video game, but ok whatever. Thanks anyways, have a good one.

I never get upset at anything some random person writes on the internet.

I am however perplexed at how someone can compare two so different games as GTA and The Last of Us is and even go as far as call them "not so different" . But no need to worry, just go back to the last of us and enjoy that.

@Jacanuk: Seems like you are the only one who is taking this a bit personally.

You can compare the two games, both games are 3rd person shooters, both have a story mode and both have online multiplayer. They have in fact more in common than they don't have in common so i agree on what Mikehockbourns says " both games aren't that much different" what mostly sets them apart generally speaking is that Gta is open world and tlou is not. Can still compare the 3rd person aspect of it, the gameplay, animations, graphics, story, voice acting, multiplayer etc...

@ojmstr

It almost sounds as if you're saying "Both games have gameplay, therefore they can be compared"

anyway, You're more than welcome to compare whatever concepts they have in common but they are still entirely different games. Infact the one single thing they don't have in common is what makes them incomparable.
