No. There are only two kinds of people who find the games hard: 1. Those without hands. 2. Those without the patience to learn enemy patterns, block/parry or just take their time moving through levels, rather than going Call of Duty on everything (which I am learning a very humbling lesson right now as a Wanderer and trying to blast through the early levels due to a false sense of familiarity and skill).

Agreed.
The enemies and boss fights in Dark Souls are easy to overcome with only a minimal amount of damage if you just take the time to watch their basic attack patterns. The only times I really died were when I didn't know where to go or what items did (which was mainly due to a lack of information on the game's part), or when I tried to rush things. Other than that, the game was definitely beatable.

Meanwhile, I don't know what the most difficult game is. I doubt it'd be anything recent - although perhaps I Wanna Be The Guy would be up there. Then again, that's also beatable, so...

I know there are harder games, but of the ones I personally own, one of the only I absoultely cannot beat is Devil May Cry 3.

Off the top of my head next would be MK3 as Smoke. Doesn't matter what difficulty or how many continues you select. You pick Smoke and the AI is insane. Can't even beat the first guy with him.

Gain Ground on Genesis is another hard one, but not a great game either so to hell with it...

And how old is that Jim lad, coz if that was true then you wouldn't think those games were hard compared to some older games OR you are new to gaming!!

Mushihimesama Futari Battletoads Devil May Cry 3 Ninja Gaiden Ghouls 'N' Ghosts Sorry I can't pick 1 specific game but from a scale of 1-10 these are all 10 for toughness they made me cry like a baby lol. I know there's loads more but these are the games that spring to mind (AVOID AT ALL COSTS).

Ghosts 'n Goblins for the NES by far. The game threw kitchen sinks at you at every turn. 2 hits and you're dead, widely spaced out checkpoints, losing all your lives meant starting at the beginning of the level, endlessly spawning enemies, platforming segments that regularly forced you to make blind jumps, a brutally short time limit to finish levels, and NO password or save game feature. If you turned the game off, you had to start the entire game over again. Oh and if that wasn't sadistic enough, when you "beat" the game you didn't actually beat it. You had to play through the entire game again, and it was somehow HARDER than the first time.

Kiro0

Really? I Wanna Be The Guy? I mean....really? That game really isn't that hard. Very beatable. I've personally beat it 3 times on 3 different difficulties. I Wanna Be The Guy on impossible difficulty perhaps, but on every other difficulty I Wanna Be The Guy doesn't even begin to approach the difficulty of the kind of 8 bit platformers the game takes inspiration from.

Battletoads, like many of you guys said. Playing with someone else made it less hard but I don't think I've ever finished the game.

I never got to play Ghost n' Goblins (I know right, what type of video game player am I). But, that does sound hard. Maybe the closes game I got to play with that type of difficulties would have been, Adventures of Bayou Billy.

Demigod has a steep learning curve, and it isn't particularly user-friendly either.

There are various games which are difficult to play. But as far as most difficult game, it may vary from player to player. For me its Risen, Super meat boy. http://www.qstix.com

Battletoads is a triumph of difficulty that laughs at other games. Rare was a d1ck company before the SNES days. If you want a laughably difficult game this is the one for you. And yes, it has to be the NES one.

Recently....Alan Wake on nightmare mode.

chilly-chill

Nah...

You probably just get tired of doing the level over when you die and get sloppy.

I do that a lot.
