I didn't exactly know how to put the title of this thread...but if you were to make a movie based off a game...what game would it be and why?

The game I would go with probably would be sinistar...Now your thinking..."what are you smoking to think sinistar could be a movie?"

It would be a parody of the star wars series XD...Instead of the Death Star you get SiniStar eating everything and you see the hero go in with his little ship and blow it up! XD

Another game would be double dragon...because who doesn't want to watch someone rescue their girlfriend from a bunch of thugs with some kick butt fight scenes and cheesy one liners? I actually could see this one turning into a comedy/parody too of fighting movies, but it could also be a good serious movie...like say she was kidnapped to be a "slave" and Jimmy and Billy go into their HQ, kick some butt, rescue the girl/s, and save the day!

They already made a Double Dragon movie starring Alyssa Milano. She was the only good thing in the movie.

most games dont translate that well into movies, most movies like transformers, x-men, marvel movies comes from comics and games also come from comics. a good game that would become a succes probably would be onimusha, i heard they had a start on it, but they didnt have time to d oit because of other movies so i think the project was dropped

Definitely Unchartered 2. But playing that on a HDTV is like watching a movie anyway. That game is fantastic.

"Transition"

It would probably be SiN for Me, it could get away with being an real life Action movie, plus today's graphical rendering technology is advanced enough to deliver a good feel for monsters. Though Ritual (Developers) are no more so I wouldn't know who to ask if (for example) I wanted to shoot a multi-million (pound/dollar) film (movie) I don't believe there's any rights to the SiN name.

The anime version was good mind you. But that was back when Ritual were still around before their buyout and then dissolution.

Final Fantasy VI is one of my favorites, and I could see them doing a good animated movie (not anime, more like classic Disney or something similar).

A GOOD version of Resident Evil that's actually based on the games, along with agreat version of Silent Hill. Those need a retry all the way. I also would have to say Bioshock and Half-Life. Bioshock could be directed by Tim Burton and Half-Life could be directed by the guy who directed 28 Days Later.

Heavy Rain could be good if done right, multiple endings for the DVD too. And Edward Norton should play either Norman or Ethan, whoops getting carried away...

I would say Kingdom Hearts, but I don't think it would really work as a movie (not live action at least) so I'd have to go with Zelda: Ocarina of Time

A couple of games that I think that could be movies:

The Witcher (although it was based off a novel :P)

Baulder's Gate 1 and 2 (Not the dark alliance games!)

Fallout

Final Fantasy 7

Typically the only games that I feel have a story that is good enough for a good movie are RPGs.

I want to see Metroid and Halo come to the big screen. I'm a sci-fi geek, so I'd love to see some futuristic space-action from either franchise. I'd also really like to see a Zelda movie made. Fantasy and magic are a great mix on the big-screen, we already know that. Zelda just seems like a no-brainer, why haven't they done it yet?

A System Shock 2 movie would be amazing. That game had such a rich atmosphere that would translate perfectly into a feature film.

Fire Emblem: PoR or RD would be an interesting trilogy to pull off. I'd love to see them try as long as they don't find random people off the streets to play important parts...

Well Im a huge Sonic fan so that would be my first choice but putting a little more thought into story and special effects Id probably pick Einhander.

Future world thats over-run by mechs and robots. Not original I know but still it would be awesome in live-action. Ive always loved robots and such. Also Earthworm Jim would be pretty cool to see in Live-Action.

I don't think either one of my favorite games could be easily translated into a movie, one movie that is, unless we're speaking about 6-10 hour movie here, maybe a trilogy. I for once wouldn't want a live action movie based on my favorite game as they tend to suck, rarely does directior know jack about the game itself, nor does he bother to bring someone that actually does. The only movie I would aprove is either anime or CGI one, and it would be a prequel to let's say Final Fantasy IX.

But it doesn't matter on how well it was made in the past...Think of it this way...

You have an unlimited movie budget to make the perfect game movie...whether it be live action or not...you can call your own cast of actors to act out and have be a big production film...not something of cheap budget like super mario bros...or doom (although doom did have the rock lol)

Like someone stated above MGS 1 would make a huge movie...But I think they would have to make metal gear from the nes into a movie first...since it is a prequel to MGS 1 on ps1...I think they could be summer blockbusters

It seems you didn't quite understand what I was trying to say, guess me and my bad English are the ones to blame. But seriously, one movie wouldn't be enough, no matter how much money you got, no matter how good the actors are you simply can't pull of a decent live action movie based on a game such as Final Fantasy IX. As for why, simple really. Can you imagine squeezing a 50-80 hour game into a movie that would last 3 hours max, Uwe Boll can, but that's a different story, and the actors, who could possibly play Steiner with me saying, "that's Steiner alright". Trilogy would be a different thing, which I've already mentioned, though I would still prefer either a CGI or anime movie, both highly doable to less limitations.

Well that is true...RPG movies would have to obviously at LEAST (depending on the game) have sequels because there is a lot of content in RPG genres...But maybe they could pull it off with some of the old school RPGs like Final Fantasy II and cram that into one movie...Actually I think that could be a really good movie...cliched some but two lands are at war with each other...One is severely overpowering the other one...A young group of 3 people go secret agent style and assassinate the other land's emperor only to find out that he stole Satan's soul and reappears again as a demon...Wait a second...this would need a sequel too lol. One movie with the assassination of the normal emperor and the sequel with the demonic emperor. (btw I'm going to say that is a weird way to spell assassinate but I'm going with my spell checker XD)

I would like to see G-police as a mini series.

You can think what you want about the gameplay, but the atmosphere and story in that game is just awesome!

Of course, in the series, Horton would still be alive.

Also, I'd watch a Chrono Trigger or Xenogears anime if they made one.

They did make a CGI movie, which looked great. The CGI was so good that you got lost in the movie and forgot it was even CGI. The movie is called Metal Gear Solid: Philanthopy, or maybe it's simply Metal Gear: Philanthropy.
