What's your GOTY for previous years?

I was having a look at BlackhawkBix's profile the other day and noticed he'd listed his favorite games of the year going back to 1990. What a great idea! So I've stolen it, added it to my profile too and started this forum as I'd be very interested to see what everyone thinks.

GOTY stands for Game of the Year. Whatmakes a game eligable for game of the year? IMO it should be the best game in terms of originality,lack of bugs, graphics, sound, gameplay, presentation and replayability.So the games I have selected are not necessarily my favorite games of the year, but are often the games I thought were the best for the year. For example God of War 2 was great but didn'tdoanything that God of War 1 hadn'tdone so I let other, equally good, but more oiginal gamesahead. That said; games like Little Big Planet were choc full of innovation but didn't have the gameplay and replayability level of other games released that year so that stopped me from voting it the winner.

Can't blame him for that, my list is loaded with PC games as well, with only Ocarina of Time (1998 ), Metroid Prime (2002), and the GC version of ResidentEvil 4 worthy enough (IMO) to rest the laurels away from PC Games.

I was very impressed today, I watched my 9 year old nephew beat Ocarina of Time today, he was ecstatic beating Ganon.

Tommorrow I'm hoping to watch him defeat Metroid Prime (Boss) and beat that Masterpiece as well.

Have to agree with you on the GC Resi Evil Comment. The Resident Evil 1 remake is my favorite of the "old style" Resident Evil series. I always found it sad that other games weren't able to replicate the graphical excellence that game showed the system was capable of.

My 4 year old daughter started playing Little Big Planet and Fat Princess recently but all she does is hide behind trees, run out, shout peekaboo then put the controller down and run away...sigh, at least my consoles are mine to play alone for a little while longer.

The shamefull thing with me is....I was never able to beat Ganon at the end of OoT, I would run out of Light arrows or magic :(

....and my 9 year old nephew does it, very happy for him though.
