I'd like to know your Top 10 Dreamcast games.

You can mention imports,too.

Sorry if it's difficult to narrow it down to just ten games, but that's how it is.

In no order:

Elemental Gimmick Gear - excellent 2D RPG with a fantastic soundtrack, beautiful 2D graphics, interesting story and solid combat.

Virtua Fighter 3tb - the gameplay is so addictive that i've spent countless hours in the single player mode just learning the combos and pushing the difficulty foward. Then i've spent another bunch of countless hours playing with friends.

Project Justice - my favorite fighting game for the system with tons of content to play with (many fighting combinations, unlockables and charming story).

Virtua Tennis 1 - The best and most entertaining tennis game i've ever played. I prefer it over the sequels because of the simpler gameplay and soundtrack. Countless hours lost in co-op and versus.

Sword of the Berserk: Gut's Rage - repetitive as hell, but satisfying as heck, and the story is very good which kept me motivated to finish it. It also helped that i'm a Berserk fan.

Tokyo Xtreme Racer 2 - By far, my favorite racing game on the Dreamcast. Tons of content, many ways to customize your car, beautiful graphics, very fluid gameplay, and it's also easy to get into.

Under Defeat - Criminally underrated shoot 'em up, the gameplay is incredibly addictive with a multitude of strategies to it, and the graphics are some of the best on the DC.

Test drive Le Mans - The 2nd best racing game on the Dreamcast, excellent gameplay, graphics and decent amounts of content.

Soul Calibur -Uncountable features to unlock, and excellent, fluid gameplay with a very easy to do combo system.

Cannon Spike - A top-down 3D shooter/beat 'em up which could be summed up as a adrenaline pumping experience, especially with a friend in co-op.

Soul Calibur (Best 3d fighter on the console)

Street Fighter III:Third Strike (Best 2d fighter on the console)

Sonic Adventure (The last great Sonic game. Hands down the best 3d sonic and arguably the best sonic game period)

Shenmue

Soul Reaver (Best version of the game) Rayman 2 (Same)

Ikaruga (I had the Gamecube version and I heard it was identical to the Dreamcast. If so, it belongs on this list)

Giga Wing 1

Giga Wing 2 (Both are my favorite shooters)

Resident Evil 2 (One of my favorite RE games and this is best version imo. Code Veronica is fine but I don't think the plot or gameplay aged well over the years)

Typing of the Dead (Addictive)

You sure you talking about the first Soul Reaver?

And no,the first Sonic Adventure isn't the best Sonic game.

Sonic Adventure 2 surpasses it.

Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver. Visually, it was the best. I have no idea why folks say this but maybe I'm missing something. Between sonic adventure 1 and 2, 1 wins the prize. In 1, you played as sonic the great majority of the time; as it should be. In Sonic Adventure 2, the Sonic and Shadow scenario's constitute about 45 percent of the game; the rest is made playing those boring, repetitive robotnik/tales missions, or those frustrating knuckles missions. SA1 was much more open ended; you could play whomever you wanted. It was also much more cinematic and plot driven and every character played their part in developing the story from different view points.

I don't agree with you, playing with different characters is EXACTLY what made the game fun.

Playing with different characters can be fun but in the case of SA2, not so much. Playing with different characters in SA1 was fun because there was an incentive plot wise and there weren't as many missions.

I'm going to post a top 10(just got a Dreamcast not that long ago) but here are some of my favorites.

Grandia II
Jet Grind Radio
Maken X
Power Stone
Shenmue
Test Drive Le Mans

Under Defeat - Criminally underrated shoot 'em up, the gameplay is incredibly addictive with a multitude of strategies to it, and the graphics are some of the best on the DC.

Lucianu

I'm waiting for that to come out on PS3 this fall, thankfully it's getting a disc release.

  1. Jet Set Radio: On of the most amazing soundtracks and really fun addictive gameplay plus a visual treat to the eyes. Can't wait for the HD release.
  2. Skies of Arcadia: Favourite RPG ever, amazing characters and one of the very few that doesn't feel like a chore to me as you play on.
  3. Shenmue: Such an awes-inspiring and engrossing experience. It lived up to everything it was built up to be for me.

  • Power Stone.
  • Project Justice.
  • Space Channel 5.
  • Grandia II.

looool
sonic adventure 1 is much better than sa2

can't spin dash spam which takes dem skills
also too many characters added
story is beyond cheezy in SA2, SA1's got dat classic sega arcade style. Also the game you can tell was influenced by Nights which is a huge plus
too much focus on other characters who I do not care about
SA1 you can just play as sanic spindash spamming at sanic speeds

also the art style is better in SA1

Sadly today I've noticed my Dreamcast having disc reading problems :( I may have to learn how to fix it or yet again buy another off ebay.

Good list, six of those games I have double, one set for playing and one set factory sealed. As for the disc reading problems, that is what happans after a long period of playing, that means you've burned a lot of hours on the machine. Same thing happend to me, at first I thought it was because some of my discs were scratchy but I recently brought a next to new DC for the vault and tried the scratchy cd's, worked like a charm. You can buy the lens reader online for a cheap price or try to buiy a mint DC, which is always a good thing because the console is number 1 :)

I got my current one off ebay in January(3rd since UK launch). I'll try getting myself a new lens on-line, I can't live without a Dreamcast :)
