I 3rd L.A. Noire..finally picked it up & the voicework/facial animations are top notch. They're a very important part of the game too, not just there to look pretty..
Bioshock when I first played in 2007...the atmosphere, characters, story just everything was/is amazing.
The last few hours of Metro 2033 were incredible. It just builds and builds!001011000101101Ditto, that game was awesome from start till finish.
I don't use the term "amaze" lightly when it comes to gaming, but the last game that had this effect of me was King of Fighters 98: Ultimate Match when I played it for the first time about a year ago. As far as I'm concerned it is the best fighting game to ever be released.
But I have played some pretty awesome games since then, just non that I was amazed by per say.
Games are amazing me all the time, and not just the new games.
Red Dead Redemption, Castlevania: Lords of Shadow and Symphony of the Night, Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, and there are many more all for different reasons. The graphics, the atmosphere, the music, the gameplay, all things that can wow me. I don't know if I just have low standards or what though. :P
Very few games have ever "amazed" me... In fact, the last time I was amazed was when I played Tony Hawk's Project 8 on 360, I was in 7th grade and it was the first time I had noticed current gen graphics, yeah I didn't pay atttention to much back then...
Only a handful of games ever truly get that Seal of Awesomeness from me. I would say the most recent game that really wowed me was Bioshock. But that's not to say I haven't played plenty of fantastic games since then.
If you're just not having fun playing most games, I would have to say It's probably you, look at what games you're playing, are they all similar? If so look for something new or unusual, something that you may not normally play. Or go on Steam and check out any older games you may of missed or the fantastic selection of indie games they have.
I for example am playing through F.E.A.R for the first time (thank you Steam for the 50% sale on it and it's sequel) and I'm loving it despite It's 2005 graphics, and lack of HD or widescreen support. I've had more than a few panicked "sweetgodwtfjesus!" moments while playing.
hmmmm some of the boss battles in God of war 3 really amazed me. Such as the first battle on the back on Gaia while you fought posiedon.
The last game that really amazed me was Fallout 3. It took a while, but when i got into it i couldnt stop playing (after i platted it i immediatley got New Vegas :D). Another game in recent memory that really amazed me was Red Dead Redemption. I put the disc in, let it install and the moment i saw the opening cutscene i was blown away (especially by the awesome atmosphere). When i really started playing i was even more impressed.
Super Mario Galaxy 2.
Once I completed that game 100% it felt great. I thoroughly enjoyed it and it makes me happy that there is still much more to the platforming genre than I once thought.
What is SuperMarioGalaxy about??? and explain BC2 to me. sounds interesting.Super Mario Galaxy and BC2. I had an absolute blast palying them.

It makes me happy that such platforms like SMG2 exist. It's just a different feeling when you play games like SMG2. Unlike any other shooter, or even RPG out there. Maybe it's nostalgia. Maybe it's plain old fun, or both. :)Super Mario Galaxy 2.

Good question. So many dissapointments in recent gaming. LA Noire ALMOST amazed me. Then the second half syndrome kicked in, and it was a boring, stupid plot twist game. So many games suffer from second half syndrome these days, I have no idea which game has amazed me.
Maybe Bad comp 2 for multiplayer. Besides that.... Silent Hill: Homecoming.
Dead space 2= dissapointment, Mass effect 2= dissapointment, fable 3= terrible, halo reach= dissapointment, two worlds 2= dissapointment.
So many games suffered from second half syndrome.... Very dissapointed ingaming, in general.
uhm...When I got my HDTV, surround system and Burnout Paradise ... I kept going " WHOOAAAAA !!! " every minute
I'm amazed that after playing the beginning of 'Bioshock 2' I totally lost interest n thought it would be much more interesting to replay through Mass Effect 1 n 2 to see how the story differs..
I think it was mass effect (picked it up in january this year) along with mass effect 2
Assassins Creed, was amazing to me aswelland then there were DiRT 2(got me into more serious racing), Crysis I found to be a breath of fresh air in the Fps genre as was TF2. Oh I am also surprised at how much I'm enjoying Tales of monkey island. And Metro does indeed deserve a mention...
I'm easily amazed I guess. ;]
i was pretty wowed by Castlevania Symphony of the Night which says a lot for a game that's almost 15 years old. I was also surprisingly impressed with Star Wars Force Unleashed for PSP. thouroughly enjoyed every minute of it.
Mass Effect did. I bought it in GAME not having a clue what it would be like (I never used the Internet much back in 07), and I was blown away by a tornado on steroids by how epic the game was, it was like watching Star Wars or LotR for the first time.
The last game i bought that truely amazed me was Shogun 2: Total War,
The improved AI was something that made my jaw drop.

This was my last time as well. Fighting a boss while riding a titan as she climbs a massive mountain was just incredible. It's unfortunate that the story sucked; I wanted to kill Kratos myself multiple times throughout the game.
Half Life 2 : Episode 2 - 1 of 2 games to actually make me tear. He didn't deserve it! Of course after a few years, your wanting to revenge starts to wear off. I'll have to play episode 2 before 3 is released.
Bioshock - The only gameto actually catch me off guard and leave me with solid feeling of 'that SOB!' considering the plot.
Killzone 3 - Graphics, awe worn off rather quickly though.
Beyond Good and Evil - The other game to make me cry. I loved the universe the dev's created.
