Yesterday my ps3 broke. R.I.P. What about you? When was the last time your console broke and what was it?

360 with RROD. It was in January. After that I bought a black elite, which I sold 2 days ago in favor of the new kinect ready model. I also have a 60 Gb PS3... crossing my finger it won't YLOD.
My sister thought that there was some malfunction, so she shoved a second disc in "our" Wii slot. There were no survivors.
I was PISSED.

it broke because he unplugged it during a download? i didn't know that can break a system.
Well, the PS3 is basically a media center computer running a Linux OS. If it was a system update, unplugging it might have corrupted the firmware/MBR to the point it can't boot anymore. And if that's the case... though luck. You're SOL. :(it broke because he unplugged it during a download? i didn't know that can break a system.

My motherboard died last month, if that countsProudLarryOf course it counts. See my post above. :)
I own a 360, ps3, and wii. So far, none of them have broken. I've gotten a few freezes from the ps3 and 360, but nothing major.
last year was the worst year in my gaming life.
either october or november my 360 got E74. about a week later my ps3 gets YLOD
but this year my 47` 1080 p tv fuse blew out im now waiting for a new power board:cry:
About 8 months ago I got my second RROD. Luckily I recieved my new console in less than a week and ahalf.

Thats horrible. a few years back by black ps2's disk holder thing kind of glued shut [there was no game in there.] and i had to chuck it.
So i said goodbye to the system i had since grade 2 and for my next birthday i got a really cool sliver ps2.

I got the Red Ring a few years ago.
lolacat54
That sounds awful, but can someone explain to me what the red ring is.
Basically it is one of the many xbox 360 hardware failures. Three red lights in the shape of a ring would light up on the front of the 360 telling you that it was basically dead.[QUOTE="lolacat54"][QUOTE="LikeHaterade"]

Technically my ps2 didn't break, but it stopped reading DVD back ps2 games, it will ONLY read those blue back ps2 games that only made up like 10% of the PS2 library. It's weird because people usually have problems with their ps2's reading the blue discs.. Thankfully, my friend gave me his old ps2, but the one he gave me only reads DVD backs
My gamecube on the other hand is somewhat broken. It will only spin a game disc for 5 minutes before stopping, and promptly showing an error message. The only game that will work on it is Animal Crossing, but I believe that's because Animal Crossing does not require the disc to be spinning inside the gamecube to work.
I got a red ring, but I just sent it in and it was fixed. My PS3 also jammed, but once again I just sent it in and it was fixed.
i got e73 on 360 in january last year (so i played my n64 and owned in super smash bros and donkey kong)
and how ironic my xbox broke a month after my warranty expired
While cooking dinner for some friends who came over for a party, I was explaining to one of them what the "red rings of death" were, turned on the 360 to show him my new game and... whaddya know? I got the RRoD!
Talk about BS timing, I was so upset. Happily though, I was able to send the system back and get it repaired. Although I WAS without my 360 for almost a week.
Come to think of it, I think that might be the only time I've ever had a system go kaput on me, not counting my PC of course. ;)
I had 7 360s break on me over the course of 2005- till like 2008. I gave up on Microsoft.
And my two PS3s and my PC have NEVER had a problem.
my 360 died on me in feb of this year after four and a half years loyal service. bought a ps3 to play uncharted 2 and a few other bits, then bought an elite a couple of months later because i missed the 360 and didn't quite take to the ps3 like i hoped i would
Never, but after my PS1 wasbetween 5-10 years aged the tension rim around the prong that held the disk just crumbled. The system still worksthough. Apparently that rim wasn't even necessary. Other than that I had one of those Nintendos with a bad contactor. Never botherreapairing it myself.
Doesn't surprise methat the newer systems break. The graphics hardware is some souped upthing that is run at a heavy capacity. The construction ofall of the hardware isn't as sturdy as it use to be either. They are not meant to last.
