When you were young which one did you like the most : SONIC OR MARIO ?

I have a question to everyone who played with Mario and Sonic games in their youth , lets say in the late 80's and 90'S my generation !

which character did you like the most or which games did you prefer , SONIC OR MARIO ??

I always like Mario the most but I have to admit that Sonic was pretty cool too , Mario has more personality , Sonic was more badass imo

I always prefered the Mario games but also enjoyed sonic games back in the days

From the early to mid 90s I was a Sega kid and I swore by Sonic. I spent hours of my childhood playing Sonic 3 and Sonic and Knuckles. I didn't own a Nintendo console until about 1995(got an SNES for by BDAY), and even then I didn't own any Mario games for it. My first Mario game was Super Mario 64, and that game single handedly blew any Sonic game I'd ever played out of the water. Even later with Sonic Adeventure, I still kept coming back to Super Mario 64. Overall though, I'd say I was more of a team Sonic person when I was a kid though seeing how I liked a lot more Sonic games than Mario games growing up.

Sonic is my pick obviously. I just played Mario World from start to finish a week ago after not doing so in a long while, and I can't help but think it's the most overrated platformer in history. It's good, but better than Sonic? Nah. Sonic handles better, the game is more vibrant and colorful, the soundtrack is far beyond better, and so for me, it's just the clear cut superior experience.

Going into 3D, I thought the Adventure games were better than Mario 64 and especially Sunshine. Galaxy 1 & 2 are fantastic and extremely polished, but I prefer Colors and especially Generations since it has a much higher level of lasting appeal thanks to the time attack mode.

Character wise, Sonic has always been cooler to me even though the modern version comes off as more of a douche versus the badass that classic Sonic was.

well i only had an snes...when i played sonic it was at my friends house....and i was very jealous....sonic was amazing... but my parents wouldnt buy me 2 systems and games for both...so i had to bite my lip and grow up with mario.

I have to say all Sega megadrive sonics from 1-3 and knuckles are fantastic games also sonic cd. Super mario world was a great game but can't say i liked any of the old mario games for some reason. Sonic is the winner for me.

Mario. I've never had a Sega console in my whole life.

Both are pretty good, but it was Mario that kick started the Nintendo back during the 1980's.

Well that just has to remedied. I chose Mario over Sonic as well, but Sonic games are still fantastic games. And Sega consoles have a lot to offer. Genesis's and Dreamcasts are pretty cheap to get.

Both are good, Mario is better.

Mario, was born in 1993 and the first console I played was actually a compilation cart Super Mario All Stars + Super Mario World.

I've never owned a Sega console, and to be honest I've never played a Sonic game, reflecting on every single game I own, there isn't a single trace of Sonic.

I did see Sonic Adventure 2 Battle for the Gamecube going for cheap near where I live and I was gonna go and pick it up, but I'm not sure. I guess I've had no desire to play Sonic because I've never played it to begin with.

It's always been Sonic for me.

Even now, I still think he's the better character.

I grew up with Sonic but I never hated Mario because I had friends who owned a NES and I enjoyed the Mario games but now it has changed I do enjoy Mario games more than Sonic ones and I just love him as a character but to me they are the 2 best characters in gaming.

Jazz Jackrabbit and Commander Keen , I didn't have a console back in the early 90s, only a PC.

though at the time I did like Sonic more when I did get to play the game.

As a kid, liked Sonic better as a character, but Mario's games are better on the whole.
