I think Sonic games have been poor since Sonic 3. Wow, long ago.Justinps2hero

If you're a fan of old-school Sonic, then you need to check-out Sonic & Knuckles, Sonic Pocket Adventure, and Sonic Advance. All 3 are amazing 2D Sonic games that will take you right back to the glory days of Sonic the Hedgehog.

I tried the DS bundle, thought it was very poor. Saying that, my kids love the sonic collection on PS2, so theres still a piece of sonic alive in my heart. But when I discovered NSMB & Galaxy games, well, they are just so many levels ahead of anything that the hedgehog ever did.

Character, I would say Sonic. Game wise I like Mario. I didn't enjoy the first few Sonic games anywhere near as much as the Mario games and I didn't really like any of the ones after Sonic 3 at all. I first played the first three Mario games (and Mario 2) when I was 3, played Sonic when I was about 5.

Really? At my school the Sega fans and Nintendo fans were always arguing about which is better. Genesis or SNES? Sonic or Mario? SNES's version of Street Fighter II or Genesis's? And so on.

As mentioned, you should check out Sonic & Knuckles - with and without 'locking-on' Sonic 3. You should also check out Sonic Generations.

Honestly both. I didn't have a console during the 90s as I went to other peoples houses to play a NES, SNES, Genesis and Saturn.

Both Mario and Sonic have special places in my heart. lol

But I still think classic Sonic beat the hell out of classic Mario.

Sonic games on the Genesis >>> Mario games on the NES and SNES.

I prefered the fast paced action of Sonic. And the music was a lot better too.

Mario and Nintendo all the way for me. Best Sega experience I had was probably with Sonic Adventure when I rented the Dreamcast :P.

I'll have to go with Super Mario. I had started off with a snes playing it and then when I was introduced to Sonic later on Sega (I only played sega at friends houses) I didn't like it as much. The gameplay is fairly different; Sonic is way more fast paced than Mario. Ionno, it's probable going to be what you grew up with.

I was a Sega kid but since N64/Dreamcast I've enjoyed both about equally.

Agree about the music. I think Mario games are better on the whole, but Sonic always had WAY better music than Mario.

They both haven't aged that well, but I think most people would say that Mario 64 was alot better than Sonic Adventure.

I had both systems and played both a lot with relatives. I pick Sonic for same screen co op and attaching each game to Sonic & Knuckles made it so much better.
