It seems like no Genesis games on gamespot have any reviews or user reviews, even really popular games. For the original Gameboy, NES, and SNES there are a lot of user reviews for some reason though. Dont know if maybe gamespot destroyed all of its genesis user reviews or something then. Anyways, I just ordered a genesis off ebay and Ive been looking on ebay for cheap games and Id like to find a site that has a lot of genesis game reviews, and better yet user reviews.

Anybody know of a site or sites like that?

SEGA-16 is the best dedicated site for Genesis games that I've seen. Check out Classic Game Room too, but if you want guidance on basically every Genesis, CD, and 32X game, SEGA-16 is the site to go to.

I already know about classic game room. I like them, but dont exactly consider his "reviews" to be reviews heh. sega 16 and the video game critic seem awesome though. I am looking for written reviews preferably and like when they have some score attached to it. So if I encounter a game on ebay I dont know about I can quickly look somewhere to see its quality.

if you want written reviews I really recommend the videogame critic sega 16 is fine but I don't know... sometimes it's just hard to get over the fact that it's a sega fan website :P

Why? I actually really like that it's a dedicated SEGA fansite, because I've read way too many reviews, and Gamespot included, from people who clearly have Nintendo bias due to it being what they grew up with. If you want a legit review on old school SEGA games, it should be done by people that are SEGA fanboys so that they're only comparing games against those that are within the library. That way, you know what's the best of the best without having to worry about anything being downplayed.

I agree, Gamespot is VERY bias against Sega

but Sega 16, is a bit bias of course, they try to fight it, but in the end it still shows.

When I look at a review from classic game room or from teh videogame critic I actually get the feeling of someone who is completly impartial

Mark from CGR is definitley impartial, I agree, but he only has around 70+ Genesis reviews and maybe around 10 for the CD and 32X. And just from browsing videogame critic, what's this? Sonic CD a C+? Streets of Rage an A, but Streets of Rage 3 a B? Yeah, um, so short paragraphs and not even all the games from the library... SEGA-16 looks a lot better. :P

actually I agree with the critic

Streets of rage 3 always felt like the weakest in the series to me (you'll notice he also reviewed Bare Knuckle 3 and gave it a higher score)

and quite honestly, Sonic CD getting a C+ is being generous imo

Wow, dude, you speak cardinal sins in the mind of this SEGA fanboy. :x

Seriously though, Streets of Rage 3 is worse than 2, I can agree with that, but no way is it worse than the first one. Forget the no specials, SoR1 is very stiff in comparison to the other two and the damages are completely wack with enemies taking off half to most of your health. SoR3 builds off 2's gameplay by giving running to each character, the star moves, the ingenious bar that lets you do specials without taking damage, and you can even be a Shiva! Yeah, the music is worse, and there are some parts where I feel the designers were cheap by just throwing wave after wave of enemies at you without letting the screen go forward. Still, it's a fantastic game all around, and I don't understand how anyone can legitimately think the first one is better. Yeah, it's harder than Bare Knuckle, but it's no big deal if you're good, and Bare Knuckle 3's damage system is pretty ridiculous IMO, and especially in regards to specials. Oh, and one more thing, unless I'm taking it out of context, that guy flat out lied about the fat guys "now" have rolling attacks. They do that in SoR3 as well.

As for Sonic CD, even GS gave it an 8.5, just sayin'. :P

Overall just comparing reviews, Sega-16 ones are way more fleshed out. From what I've read here, they're more like short 2 cents rather than going into depth.

I was just about to recomment sega-16 as well. I have noticed them make comparisons to games across plats so I wouldn't say they're entirely biased, like stating if you have the SNES version it's better. I can't recall for which game but I have seen that.

Another one is allgame.com They list pretty much every game ever made, short reviews but there is still quite a large list. I'll never understand why they're not accepted by meta sites like gamerankings but whatever

bare in mind, I'm not criticizing Sega 16, just that in the end they only focus on sega systems and I always take websites and magazines that focus on one brand with a grain of salt though, they are far above the usual fare

their comparison articles are awesome and yeah they should count towards gamerankings (and so should the videogame critic for that matter)

You bet. I have yet to come across an old game on there that doesn't have a review, even if it is brief.
