Which games have the best soundtracks?

Hello!

I'm interested in soundtracks because they can be so awesome!

I found the soundtracks of Fallout 1,2 to be interesting. Prince of Persia: Warrior Within had some good moments too, but I really liked the X franchise's soundtrack too ( mainly X²: The Threat).

To give two starkly different soundtrack choices, I'd say

Mega Man: Maverick Hunter X (PSP)

Xenoblade Chronicles (Wii)

Final Fantasy X - easily the best I've ever heard.

Dark Cloud 1&2 have some very good tracks.

Assassin's Creed 2, Majora's Mask, Dynasty Warriors, although now I'm getting into which games have soundtracks that I liked at all, ha.

Some of the Tony Hawk, Medal of Honor, and Socom games have nice soundtracks. I also like a lot of old school soundtracks for games like Mario.

All of the Metal Gear Solid games have superb soundtracks. Especially MGS2.

Symphony of the Night's soundtrack is fantastic as well.

Streets of Rage 2, Espgaluda 2, Xenoblade Chronicles, Final Fantasy VII, Halo 3, Bioshock.

Any game that has Nobuo Uematsu as the composer generally has great music.

How no one has mentioned The World Ends With You is beyond me :P. Anyway that game has an amazing soundtrack!

Persona 3 also has amazing battle music and a great soundtrack altogether.

For me, I would have to say Heavy Rain, the Uncharted series (the third game having the best OST), and L.A. Noire. I also enjoyed SMT: Nocturne and the Digital Devil Saga games' OSTs.

I have to say MGS1,MGS4,MGS3,Chrono Cross,Chrono Trigger,Morrowind,Skyrim,The Witcher and The Witcher 2 have the best soundtracks.

There's a lot of games that have really great music that works really well within the game itself, but that I find, when listened to outside of the game doesn't do much for me. 'Red Dead Redemption' (and 'Undead Nightmare' as well), however, is the only game who's soundtrack, I feel, stands on its own and makes for an enjoyable listen outside of the game.

soundtracks in games have never really stood out and made me notice them other than Shadows of the Damned, the level where your follwing a glowing slug? (been a while) through a sea of black. The song that plays during that is oddly amazing.

I have only played the original Command and Conquer(1995), and it's music is simply too good, although the game is extremely old.
