I would love to see a game where you play a parasite and you have to infect a human. Some real crazy dungeon crawling level upness to go from a swimmimg nematode to a full-blown worm that buries itself in the intestines. Now that would be a fun....and educational game!

...the star of a sure-fire hit!!!!

Mine would be The Elder Scrolls V (offline), Shadow of the Colossus 2, Metroid Prime 4, Okami 2, Dark Forces 3 (a proper one, with no lightsabers), and Radiata Stories 2.

And some people wonder why all they see are sequels.

Man guys, lets try demanding something NEW every once in a while.

An entirely original game created by Goichi Suda and Hideo Kojima, with the most convoluted story they can come up with.

I'm one of them. I'm sick & tired of sequels and famous titles (not sequel but a known title like Star Wars, Final Fantasy, etc).

While I do understand your sentiments (many series already seem to be suffering from sequel-itis in my eyes), there are some older games that I believe could be improved further in a sequel after all these years, as well as getting more recognition since the original games were rather unknown. For instance, Rocket Jockey-an old 1996 PC game based around rocket bikes with grappling cables. Twelve years since, I have yet to see anything else like it. I think that game could use some improved AI, Euphoria animation for the jockeys, editors for making custom arenas and bikes, and some online multiplayer that doesn't require a load of extra apps running in the background, and a sequel could accomplish all of that nicely. There's also Magic Carpet, another old PC game released in 1994 that still remains fairly original gameplay-wise. You're a wizard on a magic carpet who has to build up a castle and basically possess as much mana in the vicinity as you can, usually competing with other wizards. It also had real-time terrain deformation in 1994, and now we have new games like Fracture touting it as something new. This one did receive a sequel the year after in the form of Magic Carpet 2: The Netherworlds (my fourth greatest game of all time), which added some varied multiplayer objectives to the singleplayer levels, cave levels, many more spells, and perhaps a multiplayer mode. However, I never got the multiplayer working properly-it being a DOS game probably has something to do with it. Thirteen years after MC2, I still have yet to see anything quite like it, and perhaps now is the time for a sequel that could improve in just about every regard. As for ridiculously well-known series with as many as ten or more similar games in it, though, they need to give it a break already.

I think the implicit purpose of this thread was to talk about sequels, not new IPs, since the original post only listed sequels.

I agree that new IPs are good, but some games/series (like Elder Scrolls and Metroid Prime) are pretty much unique since nobody else took the hint and applied the same concepts to new games. Thus, these kind of games need sequels because there's no alternative to them.

Something terrible. Like the genocide that was (or still is?) going on in Sudan. I don't know what genre it would be as you can be a villager running away or part of the rebel army taking on the bad guys. i just want a game that shows a great deal of emotion that would cause controversy for taking to far.

The actual sequel to Doom II: Hell on Earth built on an updated version of the old Doom engine with the exact same weapons, monsters and gameplay with a few tweaks for modern shooters. Skulltag already fulfills most of that desire but I'd like to see an official sequel.

That and Symphony of the Night II.

I would like to see GI Joe the video game with all the characters and vehicles form the late 80's early 90's you know the GI joe glory days :) That would be amazing online multiplayer.

But most of all I want a new BMX game just like ea Skate, you know with an emphasis on the tricks and not button mashing for points.

You mean a game where you play a cop? That would be awesome. Id like to see a police force game where you go to work as a cop, solve crimes, drive around, catch baddies. Just think of how good a cop game could be.

Thanks, I picture the game as a third person action style game with an over the shoulder camera view a la RE4. There are lite RPG elements to the game such as improving your driving, your shooting, your hand to hand combat, your investigation skills, interrogation skills and so on. Rewarded over time just by doing those things over and over a la San Andreas or Oblivion for example. The plot starts you off as a rookie going through the academy as the turorial section and the game opens up into ultimatley taking down a tightly knit drug syndicate, serial killers, etc. You could also have the choice later on to be corrupt or not, ferret out corrupt cops as part of some quest. Oh and the game should have some sort of morality meter that measures your actions towards either corrupt cop or hero cop! Killing civilians, arresting innocent people, causing wanton destruction makes the meter go down but doing opposite things makes it go up. And the game would still be playable either way it would just evolve differently. If given the right voice actors, story and character development with the mix of some lite rpg elements a sandbox feel and tight combat a game about being a cop could be done so right it would be incredible.
