which is better, ps3 or xbox360?

in july im going to get one of either.

BUT first of all, forget about the price & the built in blu ray on the ps3.
so pretend that both of them were free and the ps3 didn't have blue ray.
Now which is better, ps3 or 360?

for a GAMING experience i choose 360


if your in need of a blu ray player and arent big on games but play the odd one, go ps3

yeah, this is not going to get answered well.

If you want gaming, multiplayer, all that jazz- xbox by far.

everything else-ps3

This is going to get locked. But if you seriously want comparisons,on the forums this thread belongs in system wars,but if you use the search function for features I am pretty sure gamespot has done more than one article on comparisons between the two systems. But general games discussion is not the place for this.

If you take away the blu-ray, it really depends on which exclusive titles you're going to want. (For example, Killzone 2 or Halo 3?) Don't forget you won't be paying for the online play for the PS3 either. Just my two cents.

Depends on the games. Multiplatform titles are generally better on the 360. The 360 also has a better controller for everything but old-school sidescrollers - the Dual Shock 3's triggers are absolute garbage, so good luck playing racing games without attaching some sort of curved doohickey to each trigger. The PS3 is much easier to expand in terms of hard drive space - the 360's only option is a ridiculously overpriced 120GB drive. You also don't need an expensive memory card to back up saves on the PS3, as any USB drive or external hard drive will work. Multiplayer is better on the 360, although that's sort of expected as it's a paid service. It also benefits from having headsets bundled in every unit, as PS3 online is disturbingly barren. Sometimes it can be a good thing, but that's why God invented the mute button to silence annoying users. Anyway, despite subtle differences across the board I'd still decide based on what exclusive games you most want. Or better yet, buy both a PS3 and a 360. I couldn't live without either.

I can't help but say both.For me they both have their ups and their downs.But at the same time the 360 is cheaper,it has great games,and a three year warrenty I believe.So if you are looking for cheap,yet affective entertainment,the 360.But if you want blu-ray and games like Metal gear solid,Resistance,socom,LBP then get the PS3.

xbox 360 by far...ps3 is good and all and the fact that it has blue ray is pretty sweet, but for true gaming and multiplayer xbox takes the cake.

This thread has survived much longer than I thought it would. Personally, I would recommend against going current-gen. I've been getting a lot of games for Xbox that I missed out on when it was current. The games are really cheap now, and there are a lot of good ones. The $400 that would go to the system could buy 40+ games.
