[QUOTE="Panzer_Zwei"]The Dreamcast controller was an awful redesign of the Saturn's 3D controller... a terrible design for a console whose main focus were to be arcade games. asl2006

Have to disagree. The best controller I can remember was the genesis 6 button. Nice piece of kit :)

So you liked using the trigger buttons to do fierce attacks in fighting games? Doing weird button combinations because the controller was missing two buttons? Try doing 3xPunch or 3xKick by pushing the trigger buttons alongside the face buttons. Talk about awkwardness.

The controller was awful for arcade games period. Saying otherwise would mean having low standards, or just be in plain denial. The 6 face button set-up of the Mega Drive/Saturn controller was the best setting for arcade games. That's how 6 button arcade games are set up in the first place. People had to get around the terrible Dreamcast controller because they had no other choice than buying an arcade joystick.

The Saturn controller.

The Dreamcast controller was an awful redesign of the Saturn's 3D controller. The analog was placed to high and was missing 2 buttons. Overall, a terrible design for a console whose main focus were to be arcade games. Fighting games and other arcade games were right unplayable on it. You even had to do some akward button combinaions to be able to do such basic things like tauting.

Oh come on, its pretty obvious that the Dreamcast controller was designed after the Playstation controller.

The Dreamcast contoller is almost exactly the same than the Saturn 3D controller except it's missing two buttons.

I don't see how the Dreamcast controller is anything like the Playstation controller. The analog is above the d-pad, and also the Playstation controller has double trigger buttons, and they aren't ergonomic.

Dual Shock 2.

The controller worked well with all types of games, including fighting games. The D-pad is also really good...I never cared for the "8-way" D-pad that other consoles had.

Although the confiest is the gamecube controller the most convinient one is the dualshock because of button location (I hate the x y on the gamecube controller they are so difficult to use in combinations) but the dualshock does have it's draw backs like for instance it's a little too small. But once you get used to that it's perfect. I vote for dualshock

I've always found the Sega Genesis controller to be very comfortable to hold.

N64. For me, nothing beats having the Z button as the trigger. Pressure sensitive buttons are fine, but sometimes just having a button is great.

GC is good too though. And, obviously, they all lose to an IBM 2/3/486. Those keyboards will never die.

I was one of the few that preferred the original Duke Xbox controller over the Japanese simply b/c it molded to my hands so well :)Scoob64
Me too. Also, for controllers: Xbox Duke>PS2/1>X360>Genesis 3-button>N64>Xbox Small.

SNES all the way, I don't think a controller could be any more comfortable or easier to use while retaining such great functionality.
