I used to throw my controllers around all the time a few years ago. I've only broken one though and that was because of CoD 3 on veteran on my ps2.
Lol! That was some real gaming thing...your NES zapper manufacturers wouldn't have taken into consideration that their games would affect the gamers to such an extent that they would go hack and slash with the zapper itself! Off course that would count because you had some amount of energy induced in you because of the game that you were playing. Sorry for your zapper though.I smashed a roach crawling on the wall with my NES Zapper and it broke in half. Does that count?

I used to all the time but I find myself getting better with anger these days. That's not to say I haven't broken some in my time, 6 Playstation controllers, 2 N64 controllers, and one Dreamcast controller all met their fate at my hands.
Edit: I forgot about my 360 controller which cracked during a session of Street Fighter IV.
Controllers? That's nothing! I once broke two knuckles on my right hand punching the television screen. I don't remember what game it was, but I was lucky my fist didn't go through the screen and electrocute me! I also kicked my closet door off the hinges once while playing one of those Mario games.

 wow thats insane
My controller for the ps3 wouldn't sync no matter what combination of pluggin in and out, or reseting so I crushed it under a hammer.
I never smashed a controller, but my old PS2 controller has actually started to wear down at the points where my fingers rest on it mainly on the handles
Off course..that's something brutal on that gameboy...RIPi snapped my gameboy brick in half out of disgust once... does that count?

O my God! I am happy I wasn't born as your controller...lol! Was done to death for DOING NOTHING! :pMy controller for the ps3 wouldn't sync no matter what combination of pluggin in and out, or reseting so I crushed it under a hammer.

Hmmmmmmm I dun't think I ever get mad by playing video game. And I'm not one of those losers that throws thier controller on the floor when they lose....(Some of my friends does this LOL!!! but they don't throw it on the floor..only on the couch..which is better =D
I punch things when I get frustrated. This may sounds weird, but I enjoy games that make me most frustrated either because I can't get passed it and it's easy, or I've been doing it for hours and it's painfully difficult. Just like "tricky" games.
More recently I've punched my night stand and my chair because of Odin Sphere. Some of the bosses are CRAZY hard if you don't spend time grinding. I've never broken anything though.
Why would I want to do that? Controllers have feelings too ya know?BladesOfAthena
Not to mention that they're pretty freakin' expensive these days as well. I'd rather spend that money on getting a new game then having to replace a controller.

This is an appropriate thread for me this week, as I just smashed my PS3 joypad (threw it on the floor) after getting frustrated playing Fight Night 4. Now I have to shell out $95 on a new one. Its all good though, I was gonna get a new joypad when my tax came in as I had the original sixasix controller, not the duel shock. Still, an expensive tantrum lol.
P.S. I also kicked my metal kithen bin and put a massive dent in it too, lol.

It wasn't my fault. I blame the designers for making the games so frustrating in the first place. I should've got them to buy me a new closet door! :)
Never happened to me for three reasons:
I was friends with this white kid in my neighborhood who used to smash his controller up all the time because he died on those ship stages in Mario 3. I always thought it was something that stupid spoiled brats do. I know you're mad at the game, but do you hate video games? If you break your controller, you can't play ANY games. What is the point of that? I can understand screaming or punching something, but why do something that stops you from being able to play videogames? How does that benefit anyone?
I've yelled but I have never broken anything in frustration. The only game that has ever made me really frustrated is CoD4 Veteran and multiplayer.
recently, I got mad from Far cry instincts : Predator
I was at the second of last level . and i needed to protect some guy to get to the chopper , However , the AI of this guy is stupid, just ran into hallways of guards and getting shot at . Another that pissed me off this the "enhanced" version of instincts , Because i'm playing hard mode , even though it was on Normal (Hunter) thus i got killed SO much on that part , I was ABOUT to throw my controller , But i softly throw it on my bed , Its a rare site of me getting to the point of frustrating from throwing my controller...
I wouldn't dare try Hard HARD mode....
Hell no. And I have two reasons why I have not:
1) Becuase I'm not 5 years old.
2) I'm not retarded. For kicks, i'll throw in another reason too:
3) I pay for my own things. Possibly if I was a spoiled little girl, I would throw my controllers around like a little toddler.

This is the main reason why I don't throw my 40-60 dollar controllers on the ground.
