The reveal trailer for Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare has now broken 2 million dislikes on YouTube. I get that it's like Halo and Titanfall had a baby, but this seems excessive, doesn't it? Maybe I just don't understand what's so terrible about being in space, since I haven't played a Call of Duty game since World at War. If you or someone you know were deeply offended by Infinite Warfare, would you be able to elaborate on what made you dislike the game?

People love sci-fi, near-future type stuff. Tired of Activision, and fans, throwing that around like the critics are being petty, criticizing something for a lame reason. That's just not true.

I don't like CoD because they're mediocre games built upon a terrible (but sadly effective) business model.

I'm not "offended" by Infinite Warfare, I am "offended" by Call of Duty in general. They used to be great games, many many years ago. World at War was the last great one, and Ghosts was probably the last decent one (and even that is a stretch).

@mrbojangles25: I'm not trying to defend a billion dollar corporation. It just seems strange that all of a sudden millions of people have decided to dislike the trailer. There's always been a sizeable group that doesn't like the games, but it still seems like this new wave of disapproval came out of the blue.

I just hope that people are starting to realize that COD really is not very good and they have been riding the hype train for too long.

I admit it is an interesting response. Maybe the masses have finally just realized what the naysayers have been naysaying for so long is true: the games are shit.

It will still sell [too] many copies, though, and the cycle will continue.

There was an old user, long gone now, who put it best:

Imagine if there was a chocolate company that made "chocolate", only it wasn't chocolate...it was crap. Crap in bar form. But people don't care; they eat it up and say "WOW! Great chocolate!". So you, alone or maybe with a small group, feel compelled to shout from the top of a mountain "Stop eating the crap! DON'T YOU SEE!!! Can't you taste it?!?!" But no one listens; they eat the crap, and feel safe in it's quality because everyone else is doing it, and they are constantly bombarded with advertisements about how awesome the "chocolate" is, and how the new and improved "Chocolate" Deluxe bar will change their lives.

Well, maybe people finally started listening to the people saying it's crap and, in their realization, they let their anger be known on YouTube. And it's not just that they feel the next installment will be bad, but they realized that most of them have been bad, and they're angry about it. They've been eating crap all along and now it's time to do something about it.

I don't know...I think it might be too much to ask for some epic boycott to miraculously bankrupt the franchise so we can get a new IP, but a guy can hope.

People on the internet have hated on CoD for years, this isn't new.

It's a vocal bunch who tend to buy the games anyway, but like complaining.

Me? I don't play CoD, any of them.

Just not my thing (realistic themed shooters). Prefer FPS like D00M, Bioshock, and Overwatch.

I assume IW will have a similar standard to previous CoD entries.

@dunoid: It's just getting YT dislikes but I guarantee will go on to be another best seller and shift millions of copies. Personally, I haven't played a COD game since Black Ops so I'm not really interested in this, especially since it looks like they have used the same graphics engine.

Cod has always garnered hatred for its yearly releases and lack of innovation by some people on the internet. And the futuristic settings have become so common, it has fatigued the franchise even more. But this level of hate is unwarranted. Its not like they are going to be releasing a broken game or a barebone one lacking the necessary features. There has not been any COD game like that. Their SP have, for the most part, been a short and thrilling ride. I think most of the people who disliked Infinity warfare are the same ones who liked BF1 trailer to showcase their dislike towards IW and not for applauding BF1's merits.

People get angry because they want authentic murica military gun porn. Personally stopped caring about the series after MW(yeah the one everyone that goes nuts over). Never saw what was so big about it or why its the best one. Needless to say I found every single CoD since to be overrated.

Because it is trendy as heck to publicly hate on CoD. That is all there really is to it. The people trashing it so hard every year are either buying it anyway for years, or they haven't played one in years. Those buying it every year are giving the franchise the ultimate endorsement. As for those who don't... who cares about the opinion of people who don't play the games they hate on?

You used to see the same thing with WoW. People who played it four hours a night would unite with people who hadn't played WoW since Vanilla and pray for the great and mighty "WoW Killer" to save the genre. Heck before I knew anything about the original guildwars the internet was cheering because it was going to kill WoW, and that was like in the early two thousands.

People like to hate on what is popular, even as they cling to it.
