why are there so many game to film adaptations

its ridiculous.Tekken, Street Fighter,and Dead or Alive whats the difference? Spy Hunter was that even a big game? The Sims? THE SIMS? THE SIMS?THE FRICKIN SIMS??? a game about real life come on.

my guess is 75% of these getthe axb4 production adn the rest suck except for 1 or 2 well thought out well made movies

what do you think?

I just don't think video games are good subject matters for movies. You can't follow the plot exactly because games usually have plots that last much longer than a standard 90- to 180-minute movie. To make it work filmmakers have to only loosely base the plot of the movie on that of the game and end up with something that isn't like the game at all most of the time. The only reason people make these movies now is to try to bank off of the name. None of these movies have been any good with very, very few exceptions.

when movie execs see a successful game, or game franchise all they see is dollar signs. people will do pretty much anything to make a quick buck

i saw DoA and i found it pretty entertaining. street fighter was pretty fun (even though it was campy).and i's loves me some resident evil. they make alot of crap movies. why not make crap movies about stories we're familiar with. game movies arent gonna win oscars. i never expect them to be saving private ryan.but if the keep me entertained for 2 hours, great.

from what ive seen it doesnt work very well, i mean look at the doom movie, that was horrible. the only good bit in that movie was when the camera actually went into first person and it looked like the game

Silent Hill wasn't too bad. But I've yet to see a game-movie adaption that I would see twice.
