Actually at my local EB/gamestop stores they are normal people who just enjoy to play video games.Nills
Same here. When I was looking for a second job to work part-time I talked to the manager. He pretty much was only into sports games. And really, the only person at the store who was that in-depth with the industry was a this blonde hair, blue eyed young lady with a perky personality. She didn't even look liked she was a gamer. To hot to game sterotype at that.

Same, I generally know more than they do. It's kinda sad really.
Every EBgames I've been to has had normal employees, with the exception of one guy who was an obvious D&D'er.
The only real nerds I've seen have been customers. I remember back when I bought WoW there was one guy who came in (probably 20 years old) who looked like he hadn't been outside for years, gotten a haircut for years, shaved for weeks, or taken a bath for several days. His mommy bought WoW for him. That just about changed my mind about buying it.
EBgames can't hire the biggest nerds because those don't getoff of their PC's enough to keep a job.

Yeah, mine too. Most of the people at the stores around my house just care about sports games and Halo.
Hey everybody, tell me, what console is the best and for what reasons?

Wow, this has got to be the most noobish post I've ever read. Next time, don't try to start a completely new topic in someone else's thread. Maybe you should, I don't know, make a new topic?

...I was in the Gap the other day and the employees were all talking about clothes. They knew all about the styles and designs and crap.
Do you know what I am saying???
No, you're talking about lazy people. A nerd is someone who is passionate about something they love to do.Every EBgames I've been to has had normal employees, with the exception of one guy who was an obvious D&D'er.

Games are hobbies. Why can't people understand this?
Are people that drink advertised poison and throw up the next day normal? Are people that breathe in toxic fumes and char their lungs any more normal? Are people that track stat numbers of a sports team any more normal?
*cough* I think the idea is that the employees in a video game store actually know a lot about....video games. Who knew?
hecklemonkey
Yes, that's the general idea. However, gamers are also scared off when they trade in Final Fantasy VII and get $5 only to see it marked up to $12.
I remember going to a GameStop about a year ago and I was looking at a GBmicro in the glass case. Some punk employee walks over and tells me that it's small and it's hard to hold and I should go with the GBA SP. A week later I bought the micro and I think it's awesome. It's not very good business to have people telling customers what they should and should not buy and it seems that these "nerds" you speak of tend to do this. Drives me crazy.... MetalGearRex007
I wouldn't call that exactly an example of nerdiness...that's part of what of employees are trained to do (maximize profits, a.k.a. make you spend more). It doesn't bother me too much, sincethe averagegamer (hopefully) knows what he wants long before he walks in the store and isn't gonna be swayed anyways.
If nerds are being hired all the time, who cares? If anything, that just shows that Gamestopwants to cater to its core customer base--gamers who can actually refer to themselves as such.
