^topic. This one has had me curious for a while, as I don't see why "GC" for Gamecube isn't good enough. What's the "N" for? (Sorry it's kind of a dumb question :P)

gcn. i dnt thnk ive seen it like that. but there is no need for it. gamecube nintendo that just sounds stupid. but i guess its for the people that wud confuse GC with gamboy color. although i havnt heard of anyone doing that. but im sure somewhere there is someone in the world that does that
Because in Nintendo Power a long, long time ago, they said "Yes, we know GCN looks wierd, but Nintendo told us that they offically want it to be abreviated as GCN (Gamecube Nintendo). So that's what the offical way to write it is."
And that's were it comes from. Nintendo is just worried people might be too stupid to remember who made the thing.
Maybe because, and I'm just hazarding a guess, but NGC could also mean for Neo Geo Color, maybe that's why. Again I'm just guessing lolThe N stands for Nintendo, but I don't see the need for the N either seeing as how Gamespot called it the GC too, and plus, shouldn't it be NGC? O_o Gamecube Nintendo sounds odd...XD

^ Gameboy Color = GBC
Never understood why Super Saiyan is abbreviated to SSJ, WHY!?!?lol
I guess thats why is GCN to avoid confusion. Never understood why they chose wii as their name, revo sounded much better imo.
gameboy color = GBC i think that GCN comes from the japanese language where the order may not sound so odd , dunno tho dont speak japaneseok so if Gamecube = GC
Gameboy Colour = ???
but i do agree it shouldbe NGC not GCNTopGearDog

The Neo-Geo handheld is called the Neo-Geo Pocket Colour, so NGPC for short.
Always spun me out that the Playstation was called the PsX as well... Dunno what it is with these 3 letter abbreviations!
I guess they thought GCN just sound better then NGC. When I heard it first I think I thought that. Of course NGC sound wierd to me now cuz I'm used to saying GCN.
The japanese name for saiyan is Saiyajin. So when you see the abreviation "SSJ" that person is just abreviating the japanese name. the english abreviation is "SS."Never understood why Super Saiyan is abbreviated to SSJ, WHY!?!?loldarkjounin
The real question is: why does it have a handle? Did they really think we'd be carrying it around?Black_Knight_00
I questioned that as well, but you move it around enough times and you start realizing its kind of cool having it there.
I thought it should be NGC for "Nintendo Game Cube" It is for the grammer syntax of the Japanese the name of the Company "Nintendo" goes last. The same has happened with "DSN" instead of NDS "Nintendo Dual Screen"

But the Gamecube isn't like the original PS2, it's A LOT smaller. So, you could simply carry it, I don't know... IN A BAG!! But still, that is the REAL question
You want cartoon characters that have blonde hair and blue eyes to be referred to as SS? :P^ Gameboy Color = GBC

Oh, I didn't really mean lugging it around town. I always thought the handle on the back was silly as well, even while I'd actually grab the console by it, but then after the fact I don't know how I would have moved the console, a few controllers, the av cables, a few games, and the ac unit around the home in just one trip. The gamecube was the console you pulled out when you had people over and wanted to play some good multi player games imo. In that vein, the handle actually held some use.
You want cartoon characters that have blonde hair and blue eyes to be referred to as SS? :P Makes since imo. They super power themselves by turning into the Aryan nation.[QUOTE="darkjounin"]

Yeah Ive always thought that was dumb, but Ive always refered to it as the Cube. They should just call it that for short.
'Cube' can not be confused with anything.

I've heard some people say it was "GameCube Network", but most likely its along the lines of "GameCube, Nintendo." To show gaming comes first or something.Nabsol
Not anymore it doesn't ...:P
Anyways, that just doesn't make sense... my brain hurts. :(
Never understood why Super Saiyan is abbreviated to SSJ, WHY!?!?loldarkjouninBecause of Japanglish. In Japanese, Saiyan is Saiyajin. So the SJ is from SaiyaJin. However, Japanese doesn't use the English word "super". Instead, it uses "chou". So SSJ is a mixture of Japanese and English, Super SaiyaJin.
