Azure Palace is back up, as I said MM is listening.

Sweet! Â That level is great. Â It seems like there are a lot of folks almost hoping this game is a failure, which is something I've never really understood.

Yep... this is the game that can bring big change, bring down the barriers between developers and gamers like never before, everyone should hope this game succeeds.
I think that's your "console only" part talking silly again. There's no way an E rated, heavily policed modding community is going to make any more of a difference than what Modders have been doing with Half-life 1 & 2, Elderscrolls 3 & 4 and Neverwinter Nights 1 & 2 for years...just to name a scant few of dozens upon dozens of PC games that have thriving modding communities that don't have to answer to anyone at the end of the day.

I've seen people hope for PS3 exclusive failures so they don't "have" to spend a few hundred for one game.
It's good to hear they're ironing out the moderation issues though. I forsee myself playing LBP once a week for a long time.

I just realized that I'm something of a hypocrite, because I was pretty happy to see Wii Music underperform. Â The fanboy in me can't imagine why someone would want to see LBP fail.Â

Good or not, you probably wouldn't pick up WiiMusic anyway, nor would many people here - no matter how well that game performs, very few of the traditional gamers would call the game "good". However, if a good game appears on a system you don't have, you'll want to play it.
whats funny is both the "AZURE PALACE" and "GRADIUS (libidius.jp) are BOTH STILL UP THERE. you guys are overreacting
Azure Palace was modded and deleted, but they reversed that and it's back up. They probably realized they, well, screwed up. I don't think the Gradius level was ever actually modded.
COPYRIGHT LAWS. Simple as that.
Sony doesn't want to delete content, they do it because they feel they have to. Granted some of the moderations have been bordering silliness, but they should have set guidelines from the start for what can and can't be distributed online. Maybe some of them should have been mildly changed by Sony themselves and uploaded again.
But it's not anyones fault, it's needs must.
As a consumer, I also find this very annoying.
I led me to stop playing the game, and I haven't looked back on it since.
I tried to play some custom levels, and they were great. Except so many of them started being taken down, I end up losing interest searching for them.
The game frustrated me on so many levels. All I wanted to do with the game was not to actually play it, but to make levels and dress up sackboy and just interact with others to show off my sackboy. Of course that isn't easy to do because most of the good stuffs are locked, and I'm terrible at playing platformer. I can beat a level, but I can't collect all the stuff, which quickly frustrated me from not being able to tinker with sackboys to the level of design freedom as I want and thought I would get.
Then I tried to make a level, so I checked what other users created. That's when the game sucked me right in. I couldn't stop playing and checking out many unique levels people created. So many levels have those "can't believe this kind of design is possible" moments.
It really motivated me to just grind my teeth and unlock all the stuff to make a level of my own.
Then all this happened. It led to me quickly losing all my interest in this game.
Not sure why Sony haven't done their research. They announced this game in 2007 GDC. As soon as this game was shown, everyone immediately thought "Hey I can remake those Mario levels!"
If they did little research, they should've known what fans will do. Coming up with preperation for that would've been ideal. They had a year to come up with a plan.
and who's bright idea was it to make most stuff locked? So much focus of this game was based on creating. I'm sure huge number of people don't give a **** about playing the actual game, like many who also don't care about creating. Not allowing people the freedom from start to me feels like major flaw. I'd understand if unlockables were developer made objects like vehicles, but all the tools given to the players to make those stuff was avaliable right from the start. That would've been plenty enough encouragement to play the game.
Considering how much hype Sony put into this game and how much they were riding it, it is incredibly disappointing and frustrating to see it dying out like this before having a life. Already I'm seeing reduced number of community support for this game. Many people stopped trying to make levels anymore and last time I checked, the number of community created levels were down to very unimpressive numbers.
Maybe after all the dust is settled, I'll check out the game again. Lucky for Sony, that I never sell my games. As of now, the conflict between Sony and LBP community is too ugly for me to join in.
Way to start off web 2.0, but then again I should've known it won't go well when the man preached all this left Sony.
One more thing to add....
Why the **** would other game companies get annoyed by this? This is like free advertisement. No matter how well LBP tries to replicate Mario levels, it will never be Mario. It actually makes you want to check out the original. And if Sony don't like other companies using this game to advertise their own game, then Sony is STUPID, because bigger the community of their own game is, the better it is for them. Everyone wins if they don't get over-protective with their own license and let it be more free. Marvel is saying they want to be more liberal with their own license and that's a good thing. More cameo appearance their stuff makes, the more people will be interested in original stuff.
It was chance for everyone to win, but thanks to lack of preperation and careful thoughts, everyone loses.Â
*Cries* Again a very very very small amount of levels is this happening too, it just so happend to be some of the best so everyone took notice. There are still a zillion levels to play, a ton of levels based on properties like Mario or sonic. MM is listening and brought back most of the levels, they will clear up what is allowed and what is not.
This is not an epidemic of moderation. I have no idea where this idea comes from.
As for finding items, its still a platformer at heart, its supposed to be hard. If you cant do it get online and with a team get it. Believe me there are many people playing just to get items. Hit me up i will help.

Thanks for the offer, but I only give out my PSN ID to people I know in real life. I know I'm weird, but it's just too uncomfortable for me to let my ID known through internet.
Anyway, I don't search for levels my author or anything. I just use GUI to pick the levels, so maybe that's why I don't see zillion levels. Just from the look of it, I couldn't find all the good levels I've enjoyed, and most levels that I saw was unimpressive.Â
I rea;lly think those levels being on the front pages are being attacked by people abusing the greif system, proably why they are being hit hard. MM has a message in game in the news section about the moderating, they say explination is coming and that they are working on the system.
If you want to find the best levels check the LBP official thread we have, there are a bunch of recommendations including a link to the neogaf recommendation thread with a ton of excellent levels to play.

Thanks for the info, but I'll check it later in the future.
My hands are tied with other games and I don't have all the time in the world. Also I'm still bitter about my all the unlockables and my cursed stiff hands. I'll check it over summer when games don't come out much and by then, the community would've settled in nicely.Â
I think a lot of these is based on exaggeration and misunderstanding due to no reason being given out for why levels are being removed. I have played quite a few levels that contained actual copyrighted images from other properties. Just today I played a level that gives homage to Mirrors Edge and that been up for a week. I also played Azure Palace.
Since no one can determine the cause of the moderation I think it is being blown out of proportion. Who to say that a level didn't meet the E rating or was reported for abuse by some jackass that was upset that the level he was playing was far better than anything he could think of? No one knows. I will agree and say MM was not ready for this type of impact but I can see the LBP community shaping up to where gamers can create and enjoy other user created levels.
Its not the same, you even say it yourself "modders" make that content. People that go OUTSIDE the game to alter it. Their product is NOT included in the game, its not accesable to those you only use the game that came on the disc. You dont pop in HL2 and have a section for user levels, where you can rate, play, share, create, all you get is Half-Life 2, if you want the mod stuff you have to look for it OUTSIDE the game. In LBP it IS the game, its a huge fundamental difference.dvader654
Actually in Neverwinter Nights all you have to do is go on to Multiplayer and there are hundreds of servers up that will let you play anything other people have created from in the game itself. So again this was done over 6 years ago on PC without size limits and content restrictions.
Pretending LBP is paving any way in the gaming industry is like saying Crysis' recharging health is innovative and the new way FPS games should be played. It ignores history.
