I can't upgrade my console, I don't know when or if I'll ever get the chance to do that but I love Metal Gear and I've been anticipating The Phantom Pain ever since it was first unveiled. So I was fairly pleased to see that there will be a PS3 version to the game since it offers me a worst case scenario in case I can't purchase a PS4. It just so happens that that worst case scenario might just be happening and I'm stuck in a situation where I don't know if I should buy the PS3 version when it comes out or wait a few years until I get $500 and buy a PS4 and TPP at the same time. Will TPP only have some minor graphical hitches on PS3 or will it remove core gameplay elements like in Shadow of Mordor? And will the graphical hitches be minor enough for the game to be playable?

I don't know if gameplay elements will be different in the two versions, but if you can't get a PS4 until a few years, then just buy it for PS3. You don't want to miss out on the awesomeness

Short answer: Hell no. Of course not. It's not just inferior, it's majorly inferior.

Probably also several reasons why there's like....ZERO...PS3 footage other than the super early demo footage. That's it.

I highly doubt that it will be worth your while buying it for ps3. Ps4 is undoubtedly the superior experience and you want to get the most out of your game after all

Youd probably want to play it on next gen, but I dont think you will want to wait a long time to play it as it will probably be a goty contender and kojimas masterpiece if you are a mgs fan

@j311yphi5h: Without a doubt it will be visually inferior but the gameplay mechanics will be the same. If you can't afford to upgrade your console, then by all means enjoy it on the PS3. You'll forget all about it once you start playing.

So, unless something drastically changes in your finances, what good is going to be for you looking at that sealed PS4 game in months to come if you can´t play it ? get it for PS3 which is what you have, enjoy it as much as you can and when you finally get a PoS4 take your PS3 copy, sell it and get a PS4 copy.

If you can no play it on PS4 then PS3 is the next best thing. Once you are able to get a PS4 then it may be worth playing again.

This video came up in my feed today and I thought it might help you in your decision. In my opinion, the PS3 version looks damn good. You should still wait for final release and take in the reviews but as long as the PS3 version doesn't have glaring faults or missing elements I would just get it. You can upgrade to the PS4 version at a later time, preferably when all DLC is released and you can just grab the GOTY edition.
