Will the fighting game genre be dead after Mortal Kombat 11 comes out?

Like it or not, MK is UNMATCHED as a fighting game and definitely holds its place in history. And I'm not one of those d**ks who will say, "it's 'cause it has blood, impalement, Street Fighter is nothing" etc.

If anything I'd say fighting games won't be the same after the end of Ed Boon's gore-filled, chop-socky saga. I heard from a friend that MK will be no more after 11. Everything not named Star Wars ends eventually.

But what do you think?

I was hoping Netherrealms would go for something like this:

Mortal Kombat: Fate of Worlds

Because I know for a fact that Ed Boon likes crossovers.

@RSM-HQ: Yeah I'm aware of FighterZ. Looks good, but I wish there was a fresh, new, and non-linear anime fighting game.

Not denying the quality of FighterZ, but the thing with most other Dragon Ball games is it's six dozen or more versions of the same playable characters ( i.e. Goku, Vegeta, Future Trunks, and Gohan ). This is why I've been more-so anticipating something new....and by new, I mean something not judging a character by his power limit, like DBZ the show itself has done since SSJ first came around.

Have you ever watched Yu Yu Hakusho? I think a game modeling the Dark Tournament would be cool.

That's not really relevant to your topic though. You're now asking for other Fighting game developers to cater towards your sole preference? Why_

Arc Systems do what they do, and well. Just as Nether Realm Studio do what they do, and well. That's bias mentality throwing Dragon Ball FighterZ under because it's not your precious Mortal Kombat.

Seems more of a personal want in 'style', however that doesn't differentiate the success FighterZ has had.

You don't have to like Arc System games, yet; they're doing just fine without your interest, and deliver for a large audience.

Erm . . . We are chatting about Mortal Kombat right?

@RSM-HQ: correct. I know what I’m about to say is not popular at all...but here goes.

Umk3 is the best most balanced game. The other MK games aren’t as good as it.

SF games after UMK3 are the best too...even though I’m not good at them at all. I find that SF has a lot of skill involved. It’s about timing. MK is about speed due to the run button.

I feel like Street Fighter will always continue. MK is fun and my fav fighting gam serie but it is so extrem that you can't take it really seriously.

3D fighting is kinda dead now and 2D fighting is quite on a up since Street Fighter 4.

Fighting games, FPS and racing are the style of game that really blossom online until the next big game came out and everyone leave it.

As a game it's usually good, as a brand it is mixed.
