Witcher 3 - Return to Crookback Bog

Bit of an old one this, but I've just been playing through Witcher 3 again, and I wondered...

When you have to choose Anna's doll to break the curse, what happens if you choose Philipa's doll instead? Does it have any impact on Philipa further through the storyline? It never really explains why the Crones have a doll of her.

Nope Mr Google did not help unfortunately. For once! It just says it fails the quest. But there must be a reason for that doll surely?

Hmm... I wonder if Philipa came to the Crones looking for help in curing her eyesight.
