I always thought younger people were into video games because the technology is relatively recent. But over the last 10 years I've noticed more and more of my friends going off computer entertainment and getting into other stuff like reading and sports.

I honestly didn't think this could ever happen to me, but two weeks ago I woke up and it was just like a total regime shift. I have had no interest in playing games since, and I just can't seem to justify another minute with a gamepad/mouse/kb.

Is this a result of age (almost all new games are similar to several others I'm played to death already and are bored with) or is there genuinely a paucity of exciting, novel and interesting new games out there? Honestly I think I've just realised that I'm wasting my life in front of a screen!! Is this the breakthrough it takes to quit video gaming?

Is anyone else becoming disillusioned with video gaming and why? What is keeping you playing games and what are you looking forward to?

Well I used to play games none stop all the time, but I realized theres a lot more important things than that, and I usually play my 360, every few days or so, instead of everyday.

I have breaks all the time, some bigger than others and I guess its the same as any hobby. I have been playing my 360 every spare moment recently catching up on games I have missed (cheap too), but I have to make the most of it while I can :?.

When something Important comes along Ill go and do that, then get back to gaming when its over. Whats more important than doing the things you love to do?

I don't think spending any amount of time playing games is wasting your life. If it's what amuses you, it's what amuses you. Really it's no different than watching movies or even reading books. I personally play games off and on (due mostly to my spending WAY TOO MUCH time playing with my PC). Since I've got like 18 games for Christmas, though, I think I'm going to be really into gaming in the next few days.
