I was thinking about getting a HD LCD. Right now I play my Xbox1 on a CRT and the graphics look good. I know standard definiton looks best on CRTs. Will the graphics look just as good on a LCD HD or worse since the Xbox1 is standard definition?

Certain Game support HD at 420p. And you have to buy the cables.

You have to buy the cabels and such, or the 360 formats older xbox 1 games if you have backwards compatability..

Also it depends on the game, some support HD some don't.

I want to keep to the old skool Xbox1. All the games I play are in Standard Definition. How will these look on a HD LCD? Would they be equal to a CRT?

Xbox 1 games looks like crap in resolutions higher than 480p. Unless you get a progressive scan TV (are those even sold anymore?) you either have to play your xbox games in SD or cringe as you play them in 720p/1080p. The only other way to get xbox games to look better than they they do on SDTV and HDTV but without buying a PSTV is to go out buy a 360, the 360 VGA cables, and find a VGA monitor that displays in a low resolution like 800x600 (good luck).

I've played xbox games on my 1280x1024 monitor before (which is slightly over 720p) and let me assure you that xbox games look like pixelated mud at that resolution. The images are blurry (a result of using low resolution textures) and extremely jaggy.

The old Xbox can actually output in 720p and 1080i for a few select games (provided that you have the component cables, of course). It also makes a very nice upscaling DVD player if you install XBMC on it, but I wouldn't bother with true HD video (it's just not powerful enough for that). Also, the Xbox 360 is a poor substitute for the old Xbox given its poor backwards compatibility. Several of the supported games do have glitches, and many more aren't supported and probably never will be (especially games like Steel Battalion that require special controllers). Anyway, the problem with Xbox games on HD LCDs is that the LCD's rescaling chip most likely sucks at working with non-native resolutions, unless you're one of the lucky few with a Gateway XHD3000 or something else with a scaler that doesn't suck. I can tolerate the poor upscaling somewhat, though things do look like a blurry mess when you get up close.

That really sux. I am an old skool gamer and I keep to the Xbox 1 and N64. I live in an efficiency apartment, so I don't have enough room for two tv's. I really wanted to upgrade to a HD LCD. Am I stuck in this situation?

Depends on the TV and its internal scaler wether they will look good or bad. Also its no good playing them on big HD screen's as they show up all the jaggies and low resolution textures. Connect it with component cables as they will produce the best picture. I connected my old Xbox yesterday to my 19" HD (I also own a 26") via component and it looked rather good.
